I have 2 alumni and 1 currently enrolled at Eastlake. As part of the Sweetwater Unified school district, this school has Compact for Success which propels the 4 year attendees a guaranteed acceptance to SDSU as long as you meet requirements. Outside applicants without Compact Program Partnership with SDSU are hovering at 4.0+ GPAs requirement as an incoming freshman. Once you hit the college bound trajectory, you will realize how important it is for the Eastlake Curriculum. Eastlake offers the one of most AP classes which allows many graduates to be able to complete college in 3. Side by Side comparison to smaller/ Private schools can not even compare to the amount and diversity of the Eastlake AP classes. Unique to Eastlake is Japanese and the Dual Immersion Program, which many have started from kinder and continued into 12th grade. The school is very diverse and offers many clubs and sports, but what I find unique is the equal opportunity for girls in sports and artistic expression. Look up all the CIF State championships and you will see Eastlake at the top over many sports which is a testament to the admin and parent support of the community. If you are seeking the next steps for University which is a very competitive realm where test scores are optional, your child's academics along with accomplishments in their High School "resume" will be very important and when you are at a school where you can find a club or start a club, a school like Eastlake will allow the leadership. The Parent Association is like no other where the leaders are very connected in the community with new businesses and support to allow the funds for Eastlake School Spirit. As of 2025-26 the school is going through a major renovation which improvements which included a new football field, new weight room, new landscaping, updated library, updated Performing Arts, and parking. If your goal is for your student to have tools to prepare them for college, they will be more than ready. It starts with Eastlake Future Titian night as they welcome the 8th graders and it continues with the organized meetings from Southwest College, SDSU, and UCSD coming to visit the school.If you had to imagine a school with lots of school Spirit, Friday night Football games, Spirit Week, Robotics, and every Sport imaginable, this school is fantastic. The ASB is top notch. My kids had/have wonderful experiences academically & athletically, filled with supportive teachers.

I hate this place so much there are so many fight, most teacher and mean and horrible to the students or are just creepy towards the students. Some teachers at Bonita Vista Middle School may lack the necessary training or motivation to deliver high-quality education. There have been complaints about outdated teaching methods and a lack of engagement in the classroom. Without innovative and effective teaching strategies, students are less likely to be motivated and perform well academically. The school's disciplinary policies have also been a point of contention. There are claims that the policies are either too lenient or inconsistently enforced, which contributes to a chaotic school environment. Students may feel that there are no real consequences for their actions, leading to increased behavioral issues. Not to mention the student safety, Many students feel unsafe or unsupported, which negatively impacts their ability to focus on their studies. The school's failure to effectively address these issues creates a hostile environment for students. The school also doesn’t feed the kids the best food many student have gotten extremely sick from the schools lunch, we have tried to de-bunk the sources of the problem but it has been proven almost impossible to find the root of our problem. Overall I would not recommend this school.

I have had my children and other family members attend BVHS. Wonderful caring teachers, incredible and very involved Principal and admin. Athletics are very good, with both female and male sports inclusive and successful. More than half the student body plays a sports at the school. Band, Music Machine, Dance Team, Sports Medicine program, BVTV, IB/AP classes are some other amazing programs offered. We have known many students involved in a variety of these activities, all have had great experiences. We are lucky to have this school in our community.I also read some other reviews and felt compelled to write about our personal experiences. There are always kids and parents who don’t have as good of an experience. I have noticed less involved parents/kids in general in society…who like to blame others and not take accountability. It’s everywhere. But BVHS is great place if you want it to be!

I have only been to the campus a handful of times, and I dont understand why the school is so filthy. We need staff and management to set better examples for our students. How can you communicate that you care for your students if they show up to a filthy campus every day.

We love our School. Teachers are great and my daughter is very happy here.
