At Blue Sky Farms you would be living in the lowest wind zone rating area in Florida reducing your risk from hurricanes, plus home construction cost and insurance costs. Live Oak offers great climate year round and has many amenities while maintaining its small, hometown feel.
The Suwannee River is 2 miles away and is accessible through the Anderson Spring Tract which is part of the Twin River Wildlife Management Area. The Anderson Spring Tract consists of 1,314 acres and contains miles of hiking trails, bike trails, picnic area, and access to Anderson Spring on the Suwannee River.
The Twin River Wildlife Management Area consists of more than 9,000 acres in 14 noncontiguous tracts in Madison, Hamilton, and Suwannee counties. Most of the land surrounds the Withlacoochee and Suwannee rivers. This area is a site on the Great Florida Birding Trail. Hunting, Fishing, wildlife viewing, canoeing, horseback riding, hiking, bicycling, and picnicking are permitted. A quota hunt permit is required to hunt in this area where deer hunting is excellent.
The Suwannee River State Park is only 6 miles from the property. Here you will find a high bluff overlooking the spot where the Withlacoochee River joins the Suwannee River on its way to the Gulf of Mexico. Vestiges of history in the park show how important the Suwannee River was to Florida history. Remnants from the past include one of the state“s oldest cemeteries, and a paddle-wheel shaft from a 19th century steamboat. Five trails, ranging from a quarter mile to 18 miles, loop through surrounding woodlands and provide panoramic views of the rivers. Other activities include fishing, picnicking, and canoeing; for overnight stays, the park has a full-facility campground and cabins. There is also a paved boat ramp to access the rivers.
At Blue Sky farms you will find 10 acre estates and a few families living here. The estates have been planted in commercial pine trees. This could make for a great investment in the future and a possible property tax break for those who own multiple lots. There is no requirement or timetable to build. However when you decide to build it must be 1,000 square feet or larger. Modular homes and mobile homes are allowed providing they meet the minimum square footage and are 5 years of age or newer when initially placed on the land. Farm animals are permitted with the exception of pigs. Camping is permitted on a limited basis.
