So far the teachers we’ve had have been excellent. The principal seems very involved in helping around the school and with students who need extra support. My daughter has made lots of academic progress while here, and has made great friends. I did witness one crazy recess that looked like Lord of the Flies with some fights, pushing and kids pretending their hands were guns and no adults in sight, but that was definitely a one time thing and not the norm.

We have loved this high school. Considering it has a long history I am surprised by the lack of school traditions, but we have loved the teachers. There are so many amazing teachers here. There does seem like a lot of nepotism that has happened over many years, but with a recent change in principal that is really changing and in my opinion for the better. I love that there is a nice blend in the student body and that there are a lot of opportunites for my kids to be successful. I have loved the AP programs and the concurrent opportunities. We were considering a couple of the neighboring highschools, but are thankful that we settled here and feel like its recent national recognition in ranking is well deserved. Great kids, great teachers and great opportunities.

My experience with this school over the past six years has been largely negative. While a few teachers are excellent, many are mediocre or outright unwilling to support struggling students.The leadership under Principal Lott is particularly problematic. The school culture is unwelcoming to parents, and the practice of pulling students out of class for academic struggles only serves to shame them and cause them to miss vital instructional time. Furthermore, the lack of flexibility regarding late work and "contracts" for young students shows a lack of understanding of middle school needs. I cannot recommend this school based on the poor quality of the administration and staff.
