5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a graduate of JH Rose and both of my daughters also graduated from there in the last few years. Rose is a very challenging school that has way more AP courses than any other high school in Pitt County. The school also is one of 30 something schools public or private in all of North Carolina that is an AP Capstone school. Rose received this qualification because of the amount of students who receive very high scores on their AP exams. Each year over 6 million dollars is offered in college scholarships and students go to colleges all over the country including many Ivy League schools. Many of the teachers who teach these courses have their Masters degrees and know how to teach the courses correctly. Rose has a great sports program and great programs in the arts. The only Honors Orchestra program in Pitt County is at Rose and the band has won many state awards. The theatre program along with a local news channel won an Emmy for a commercial they collaborated in. The Mock Trial program and Robotics program have both won state and national awards. I could go on and on with the awards won by groups of students and individual students at this school. There are a large number of students attending Rose from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and the school has put several programs into place to mentor these students and it is making a difference.Parent Review6y ago - South Greenville Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don't have a child and don't know anyone whos kid goes to this school but I thought I'd share my experience anyway. I had to call the school regarding donations of school supplies to the school. After a couple of rings someone picks up and say "Hello!" but not in the friendly tone. I wasn't even sure I had the right number because it just did not sound professional like someone should sound when they work at the front desk. A few words into what I had to ask, I was interrupted and was told "Hold". After a few minutes my line was disconnected. Not sure if the lady answering was busy but there is simply no excuse to be rude like that. The worst part was when I called again, someone picked up and hung up immediately....so they thought. It turned out the phone didn't hang up all the way and I could hear a couple ladies speaking in the office . One thing I heard really clear was " I gotta get outta here" South Greenville Elementary, if a phone call alone is too much to handle, I wonder how you deal with the children who enrolls there? I never did get through and don't plan on trying to. To the lady who picked up that call, you need to get a different job. Your attitude stinks.Other Review10y ago - Check out schools near 204 Orlando Way #G.

"This neighborhood is is easy access to local restaurants and amenities. The city has great colleges with top notch educators. For the most part this neighborhood is safe and quiet. However, I wish that neighbors would not let their dogs run off the leash. This is an accident waiting to happen."

"Beautiful neighborhood in the dead center of Greenville. It’s a great location because you’re near everything… but you’re also surrounded by the busiest roads county. If you buy a house here, make sure you aren’t on the main entrance and exit roads.. otherwise you’ll always have cars flying by your house "

"I have been here for thee years and I love the neighborhood. People are friendly and watch out for each other. I had a lost cat and a lot of my neighbors were out looking for her. It is a great place to walk or ride your bike. We are close to several grocery stores, shopping and the mall. There are many great restaurants close by. "

"I lived in this area for a little over 3 years. The area was mostly quiet, although gunshots and fights would break out occasionally at various apartment complexes in the area. We liked being close to the greenway and the dog park, but college kids don't keep their dogs on leashes and it resulted in my dog and I being attacked several times (she was unharmed each time luckily). This area is a low-cost living area to get your foot in the door until you can get something better. Dog owners be wary of apartments close by and college-aged kids with dogs. "

"What commute? Lynndale is dead center in the middle of the city. Since Greenville is still a 15-minute city on her busiest days, that puts you 15 minutes away from everything, even on Black Friday."

"My commute is reasonable. I avoid running errands during school dismissal and around 5:00. I chose this neighborhood in order to be close to St. Peter."
