Having had one child pass through and another one currently enrolled at HSCS I will be the first to say that this school is hands down the best school in Alachua County or possibly North Central Florida. Teachers care more than any other teachers I have ever been involved with. One downfall is the amount of testing, but that is not their fault but the fault of their "wonderful" county that they call home. The teachers and Dean hold the students to a high level of accountability and pay attention to every little thing that happens so they can correct before it becomes a big issue. Multiple engagements for families to become involved and help their child succeed. HSCS focuses on positive rewards for positive students and it really does make a difference and the students compete to earn these positive rewards. Overall this school puts students on the path to success and it is ultimately up to them if they want to follow it.

"I’ve lived here nearly 6 yrs and love it! Small town feel, with Gainesville the University of Florida and multiple large hospitals. It’s a safe place to raise your kids. And the county motto is “where nature and culture collide” make sure to visit the springs! "

"Fairly easy for getting where I need to go. Easy access to Gainesville and Lake City. Decent schooling! Fun events happen locally all of the time, and shopping in the area is fairly nice as well."

"We live here and love it but need to downsize due to retirement. It is the safest area in this county with about 12 to 15 police officers living in the area. In the spring the whole community smells of flowers. It is truly a wonderful place to live. "

"I live in the area .. If you love the country life then High Springs is the place to live. It is a great place for young children but not so good for the teens not alot for them to do .. Lots of Horse back riding and swimming in the summer mnths but slows down in the winter. The kids tend to get board and get into trouble a bit more. "
