Unfortunately, our experience with this school was extremely disappointing. While the school places heavy emphasis on academics, it fails to address equally important aspects of a safe and supportive learning environment.Bullying was not handled with appropriate discipline or urgency, leaving my daughter feeling unprotected and unheard. Repeated attempts to communicate concerns through emails went unanswered, which was both frustrating and concerning as a parent. When serious issues are raised, timely communication should be a priority.Additionally, there appears to be little enforcement of dress code standards, allowing students to dress inappropriately for a school setting. This lack of structure contributes to an overall environment where boundaries and accountability are missing.A school should educate the whole child — not just focus on grades and test scores, but also character, safety, and emotional well-being. Unfortunately, this school prioritizes academics while neglecting student conduct, communication, and basic standards. I would strongly encourage administration to reassess these areas to better support students and families.

Great school, except the fact that there is only one bathroom open at a time EVER and There are 10 boys in there at a Time.

Both my children attended Castlebay Lane Charter from Kindergarten through 5th, with my youngest one graduating in June 2025. We have had an overall wonderful experience. Principal Price cares about the students and has been bringing STEAM and additional educational programs to the school. The teachers are overall very caring and supportive. Some of our favorites were Ms. Cipriano (retired), Mr. Cascone (retired), Ms. Wartanian, Ms. Lee, Mrs. Mix, Mrs. Van Der Wel, Mr. Daniels, Mrs. Horosny and Mr. Sanchez. The families and parents are very involved in general. Really it's what you and your child make of the experience. If you choose to get involved and enroll your child in additional offerings (Example: run for student council, STEM/computer after school programs, recess BEL student volunteers, etc) then your child will have an enriched experience. If you choose not to participate and do the bare minimum, then you will not take advantage of all the school has to offer. We are very grateful for our time at this school.

Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences has been an amazing experience for our family. They have exceeded our expectations in every way. My daughter is a senior and has been at VAAS all 4 years. She feels heard by her teachers and is thriving in her academics greatly because of the endless dedication of the teachers, staff and administration. She's active in extracurricular activities and clubs. As a parent I feel that the extra activities and the friends that you make during those times is what they really take away from high school. The caring and compassionate environment gives the students a strong sense of belonging and feeling confident to be themselves. My daughter will be graduation high school with high very grades, achievements & awards, which makes me very proud but the things that brings me the most joy is her confidence, the amazing friends that she's made and her sense of accomplishment. Her high school experience has been a wonderful experience, and I can't thank VAAS enough.

If you want your child to hate school and not go to college send them here. This place makes kids miserable and why would they want to continue to college when they're done here. The teachers are mean and rude. They put so much pressure and work on the kid that they spend their whole afternoon and weekends doing homework.
