I'm currently nearing the end of my 7th grade year (thank god), and I could not be more appalled at my overall experience at this school. However, I'm here to talk about a specific issue. Each week, P.E. students are required to run a mile in under 15:59 on a random, undisclosed day. (This is to prevent skipping the mile but I believe it's completely unfounded.) If you don't finish it in time, you have to run it again every day until you do, if the teacher thinks you aren't trying. But in reality, only the girls have to actually do it. Or anything for that matter. All of the boys get to slack off every week. The only time they have to run it is for fitness tests as it's required by the state. But here's the real kicker. There have been many scandals in which students were forced to run even though they were clearly in an unfit position to be doing so. An example of this is that some LITERALLY PASSED OUT and were expected to get back up and continue running. This also greatly targets students with health problems that make strenuous exercise difficult or even dangerous, as often times even if the school is aware of the student's issue it is completely overlooked. Today an incident like this has happened yet again with a friend of mine (I will refrain from sharing details to protect their privacy) and I am so done with all of this. This mentioned P.E. teacher should think long and hard about her priorities, and stop endangering the health of LITERAL CHILDREN. This has likely been going on for a long time (though I cannot say for certain) and I want to protect future AMS students I know from having to endure this. Students don't get the attention they need to learn basic text book learning due to the lack of English speaking students , 80% of the teachers time is trying to communicate with students that either doesn't speak or speaks limited English. A math teacher shouldn't have to teach students how to speak English , the time spent explaining what sumthing means to a student who doesn't speak English is time taken away from other students like my son to advance and learn his basic needs to go to college . That's why this schools performance ratings are below standard . I wouldn't recommend this school if u want ur kids to go to college especially if u want them to have any kind of higher paying job requiring knowledgeable study's . Outer appearance of school and football field get a 9 but the learning they gets a struggling 2.

The school isn't a bad school but the ladies working in the enrollment office leave a lot to be desired. They couldn't have made it any more unclear and difficult to transfer our child back into this school system. The tone and attitudes we were spoken to with were very negative and both ladies acted as if we were inconveniencing them by trying to enroll our child. When asked what to do next, we were met with "we told you so's" and "you should have already's" when we weren't even given all of the information on what to do. Albertville Elementary School, you should consider replacing your ladies running the enrollment office, or perhaps giving them a few classes on manners and the proper way to welcome new students and their families into the school system.

I moved to Albertville a few years ago and wanted to check out the schools before we decided to buy. Our school visit went so well, we bought a home in Albertville. Our child started BSLK last year and we were so happy with the teachers, office staff and principal. Everyone was ALWAYS friendly and helpful. All the teachers and staff got along so well with each other and the principal was out at all of the functions throughout the year. I wish we didn't have to move to APS and I hope APS will be just as wonderful as BSLK!!!

This school is simply amazing. Everyone on the staff is caring and nurturing. I couldn't ask for my children to attend a better primary school!
