I have substituted here and there is a lot of disruptions from students who refuse to follow the rules. I felt sorry for the children who want to learn. Most of the teachers were not helpful assisting subs and were by far rude. The principal is unapproachable and has a liberal mindset. Horrible

Used to be a student here and it was genuinely the worst 3 years I’ve ever spent in a school. A lot of the staff were very rude, it seems like a lot of them just hated the students at this school. I remember so much verbal abuse being used when I went here, it was just constantly everywhere. The school isn’t safe to be around either, there’s been multiple bomb threats made by the students here so you can basically imagine how scary it was to even step foot in there. If you send your child here, I guarantee you their mental health will rapidly deteriorate, just find some other middle school, please.

My experience at Sunlake High School has honestly been one of the worst school years of my life. I felt like racism and discrimination were ignored by staff and teachers, and many students openly used racial slurs toward students of color without consequences. Whenever concerns were brought up, nothing seemed to be done about it.One situation that really upset me was when I worked with my partner on an assignment. We had nearly identical answers because we completed the work together. My partner received a 100, while I received a 70. I spoke to the teacher about it, redid the assignment, and still received the same grade without a clear explanation.I also noticed unfair treatment in classrooms. One teacher regularly grouped all the Black students together and placed Hispanic students in the back of the classroom while treating other students more positively. There was also a Mexican student in class who struggled with English, and instead of helping him, the teacher would embarrass him in front of everyone for not speaking proper English.No student should feel singled out, disrespected, or discriminated against because of their race or background. I hope the school takes these concerns seriously and works toward creating a safer and more respectful environment for everyone.
