Description

Manor Village is nestled in Southside, just below The Vulcan statue. Built-in 1924, each floor plan (and apartment) features a unique layout, so we urge all who are interested to tour the apartments in person.

The large property features 8 different, stand-alone buildings and three different parking lots. It is very stair-heavy, so those who have issues with walking up and down stairs daily may want to keep this in mind before deciding to live at Manor Village.

There is a washer/dryer facility on the property. Select apartments do feature a washer/dryer in unit, and several apartments have incredible views of Jones Valley, and Birmingham.

For those who enjoy historic charm, Manor Village is the choice for you!

The nearest grocery store would be Publix on 20th Street. This property is within walking distance of Ramsay High School and 5 Points South. We do not suggest this property for UAB students who plan to walk from campus; this is because Manor Village is located on the side of Red Mountain and the walk back is very steep.

A short drive will take residents to the UAB Campus, Downtown Birmingham, Downtown Homewood, Green Springs Parkway, and Highland Park.

New residents must set up their electric accounts with Alabama Power. Some apartments require natural gas to be set up through Spire Gas.

"Lived here for years, love the convenience of the location. We have so many good restaurants and bars, parks, and right next to UAB hospital. The people are super nice. I love Birmingham "
  • Trulia User
"There aren't many children in my neighborhood, but there are some younger families nearby. There are some parks but I never see kids there. There is a lot of mental illness and homelessness nearby "
  • Trulia User
"There are quite a few things to do in this area but it’s not kid friendly. It’s for a younger crowd that wants to stay close to activities and the party scene."
  • Trulia User
"There is not a lot for small children to do in this neighborhood. The are a lot of small businesses in this area. "
  • Lauren.lockhart86
"quite, safe, family friendly, close to downtown activities and restaurants, children's hospital, and UAB"
  • Aurielle M.
"Sidewalks are terrible but the parks around here are wonderful! So that’s always a good thing, sksksksk"
  • Jacob C.
"Nobody picks up after their dogs here. If you move here with your dog please make sure you bring bags to pick up their poop; nobody should have to worry about dog poop on the sidewalk but here we are"
  • Daphanee
"Just visiting but it has a unique location and convenience to downtown areas near UAB Hospital, UAB college, Vulcan, etc."

"Car is needed. You can get by for a few days not owning a car. Easy to walk to UAB. Great cafes and night life but hard to get to a grocery store without a car."
  • A. H.
"This is a college neighborhood, not a family neighborhood. It's important to many UAB students to find housing in this neighborhood because of the convenience. It's not family friendly in my opinion."
  • Rae
"Not suitable for family life and small kids, but it’s perfect for college kids. Lots of food and entertainment options."
  • Austin H.
"it's a great place safe and Birmingham is getting better by the minute. great place to go on runs bran is cheap and it's a quick drive to work in downtown"
  • Savelle
"fun neighborhood, so close to restaurants and shopping, also centrally located for drive to work, love the old homes"
  • southsider
"I have lived here for one year and I work at UAB. I walk to work in 10 minutes while passing beautiful old houses and shops. Nightlife, restaurants, and many more things are just a short walk away. Gas prices mean nothing to me. Great location!"
