7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter is in kindergarten, and absolutely loves this school. She is in the French dual-language program, and is thriving and excited to attend school each day. At the end of the day, she can't wait to tell me about what she learned in "gardening" and "dance". It is a wonderful schoolParent Review4y ago - Benjamin Banneker Academy

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a great little school. We started attending this year so I can only speak of the first couple of months, but my child is having a wonderful experience. The teachers are engaged and communicative. Each teacher gives extra help during lunch in their subjects, and most of them lead a workshop (technology, debate club, garden club). My child has an IEP and the services are shared with PS 46 - the elementary school downstairs. That is the case with many Middle Schools. The advantage of it is the special education staff is on-site, and the disadvantage is that they are less available than what we were used to in Elementary. The school community is small which makes my child feels comfortable and safe. I love the area of the school, and I feel safe walking there, but feel better seeing my 6th grader in and out of the door. In the past couple of months, my child was given so much free stuff that I could only dream of: free tickets to Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, Free tickets to Natural History Museum, trips to Bronx Zoo and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, skating at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Dental treatment (!!!) and free eyeglasses (!!). The kids already had two parties - Halloween and Hispanic Month. I feel grateful and excited for the future. I know the school puts a lot of energy in 7th and 8th grades to prepare the kids for the daunting high school application process and I trust that my child will have an advantage given all the support she receives.Parent Review5mo ago - Check out schools near 185 Hall St #915.
