"You need a car or you will be stuck waiting for the metro bus for a long long time. If they even show up. "
  • Trulia User
"there are no dog parks or places for people to take there pets. it's mostly apartment living midtown."
  • Alyssa C.
"Downtown West is great, but very loud. Lots of restaurants and some bars nearby, so good for folks in their 20's or who like going out! "
  • Kyani A.
"The area isn’t for families. It is more convenient for professionals. It is not kid friendly and has a number or bars/restaurants for socializing."
  • Devan N.
"People don’t pick up their dog poop and drive down Washington like insane people, but other than that it’s nice "
  • Kyani A.
"The area is very central for restaurants and socializing. It’s not a good area for families with kids. Overall, I’ve enjoyed my time here minus the parking."
  • Bobs
"Not a lot of dog parks nearby. There are some, but you gotta drive to them or at least put the pup in a cart. "
  • Trulia User
"downtown west is am up and coming neighbirhood. stl has a lot to offer but has a terrible reputation. I enjoy living here but I wish the crime rate would decrease "
  • Eric
"Safety is a concern especially at night. I would not recommend this neighborhood for young children. "
  • Eric
"It’s not a safe neighborhood. Violent acts occur frequently. Aggressive panhandling is a frequent occurrence. "
  • Amanda C.
"more college kids and retirees. not many children but there are a few failies in the building i live in"
  • Dan H.
"Very dog friendly, day kennels, dog parks, dog friendly buildings... No reason not to live here just because you have a dog. "
  • do
"No playing outside after dark, you need to be able to keep an eye on them. Great during the day, but changes at sunset. "
  • Chuckbradley66
"Walk-able to restaurants and sports venues. Easy access to public transportation. Friendly community."
  • Dan H.
"Downtown living has been a lot of fun for me. Lots to do, all easy walking distance. I haven’t noticed the crime, maybe just lucky."
  • Swift2010
"Great place...great people restaurants and environment. Pet friendly and supportive. I recommended this location. "
  • Kevin S.
"Cons: The homeless shelter is right behind this property. The dog park is also right behind this building (which is cluttered with the homeless people all sleeping on the benches). Absolutely no rooftop amenties and your alloted 1 parking spot in a tiny garage which is vague and nasty in the basement (smells like garbage, because its filled with the tenants trash cans). Security into the building is good (key code needed) but once in, there is not security on the elevator (no elevator key needed) Pros: Everything is within walking distance "
  • Kevin S.
"Cons: The entrace to the building is in an alley that is VERY unsafe, dark at night (no lights), and scary. Very questionable people use that alley for a short cut path. I was robbed at knifepoint in broad daylight visiting a friend at 1222 Lucas last summer. Pros: The building is pet friendly, however there is not a dog park within walking distance, and you definately do not want to be in that alley at night when your pet has to relieve himself. Shops, entertainment, and dining is close by."
