We have been at HGE for a little over a year, our kid is in 3rd grade now. We absolutely love the teachers we had thus far and the education and caring our kid is receiving. The principal, assistant principal, and other staff at the school are great too. The PTA is very involved, and the school has great activities during class and after hours. I recommend to anyone to join HGE!

Student safety at this school is a serious concern.Groups of students regularly hang out in bathrooms and hallways, intimidating other kids and behaving in a way that resembles gang-like behavior. These students target others, including my son, through repeated bullying, physical intimidation, and harassment.My son has been bullied multiple times by the same group of kids. His personal belongings and clothing have been repeatedly damaged or destroyed, and he has been physically grabbed and intimidated. This has created an environment where he does not feel safe attending school.What is most troubling is the lack of effective supervision and intervention. These behaviors appear to be ongoing, yet students are still allowed to congregate unsupervised in bathrooms and common areas. Parents should not have to fear for their child’s safety during the school day.Family engagement and communication have also been weak. When serious concerns are raised, parents expect timely action, accountability, and clear follow-up. That has not been our experience.A school should protect students, enforce discipline, and prevent bullying before it escalates. Based on what we have experienced, this school is failing to provide a safe environment for all students. I sincerely hope leadership takes immediate steps to address supervision, discipline, and student safety.

This school is hit or miss. Our oldest went all four years had a mostly positive experience and we got very familiar with some great teachers and guidance staff. However, your youngest child has had a nightmare experience over the last four years. Bullying was off the charts, my kid’s mental health seriously suffered, a specific teacher who had the most influence and could make or break my kid’s learning & high school experience chose to participate in the bullying instead of stopping it. This teacher has made countless inappropriate comments in front of his students. When brought to the principals attention, he tried to gaslight my concerns. Unbelievable behavior. While there are some great teachers at Wharton…there are great teachers all over, pick a different school if you can.
