I don’t recommend having kids go to this school only because they do not take bullying seriously. No kid should not say they don’t wanna go back to school do to other kids and teachers being mean and saying mean things to them! Kids are mean and disrespectful and say hurtful things would not recommend this school at all.

The school is pretty terrible, the problems are: not enough classes, like trig or precalc, incompetent principal; (he ignored a kid pleasing himself in class and called it bullying, multiple people told him),many teachers are not helpful, and ignorance and racism is everywhere, sometimes even in the teachers.

This school has great opportunities if you are a good student. If you really have to try to pass chances are the teachers will be lenient on you and you won't learn a thing. To learn here, you have to want to. The school is very clique-y in an non-cliched way and fights are common. The dress code is ridiculous, boys can't have facial hair, girls can't wear shorts. A punishment for showing up to school with a mustache--dry shaving in the office. If a teacher sees a cellphone it will be taken away. Body piercings and tattoos are a no-no. You will get sent home for a nose ring. On a more positive note, the guidance counselors are very dedicated to getting students information about college and helping them make sure they are prepared. The teachers are generally very nice and social. I, personally, had a very good experience at WCHS, it's not hard if you follow the rules and make some great friends.

Excellent school. I’ve always felt like the teachers and staff care about my children. My children love school and have learned so much. The new building is nice.

This school is a part of the"good 'ole boy" way of thinking. If your child is not part of the more well known and liked families of this town you can bet he/she will have problems regularly. In addition, many teachers in this school do not teach, employing the here's your book, here's you your work, here's you your test method. Teachers are noticeably uncomfortable with parent involvement, yet are quick to blame academic or behavioral problems on parents. If you can afford homeschooling or any other alternative take it for the duration of your child's junior high years.

The staff is wonderful! I've not met a teacher that I've not been happy with. They act as if they have my child's best interest at heart. I know several parents who have pulled their children out of larger schools to bring them to McEwen because of the attention they get. My child went to a private school the first 2 years and this school gives you the feel of a private school atmosphere without the price!
