5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is poorly run by the current administration. This school's principal and assistant principals refuse to change with the time. Students lack the necessary skills to compete with their peers who attend schools outside of district 29. Only certain teachers are allowed to attend professional developments while school is in session. Hopefully the new superintendent makes the necessary changes that will enable this school to move forward and not continue to go backward.Teacher Review7y ago6 Reviews - Is 59 Springfield Gardens

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWould not recommend this school at all the school safety is not good, I got jumped by 7 girls and hit by 3 boys, they didn't reach out to my mom after this incident took place my sister had to call my mom not to mention the fact that the staff lied and said that they were calling my mom.Student Review1y ago10 Reviews - Eagle Academy for Young Men III

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey just want to have their seats filled. THE MOST TERRIBLE SCHOOL IN QUEENS , please learn from our mistakes as this is a huge problem for me and my only son. They basically lie to get you to fill the seat and then they break all promises. No one ever picks up the phone. No one seems to care about anything but numbers. I will be pulling him out ASAP because I cannot stand the lying and the lack of respect I have been shown and the fact that no one can even return a phone call is insane. I have to say that before you go to the open house and meet with the schools administrators make sure you record everything that comes out of their mouth or else you might end up making the biggest mistake of your life. I have a child with a learning disability which was why I was so happy to be accepted into the school. Before I accepted I went to the open house and spoke with the schools principle and told him about that concern of our son with ADHD and social anxiety, and Principle Smith told us that Eagle Academy is the best school for someone in his situation and they would be here to help in any way they could. Once we accepted his seat to Eagle Academy everything changed. Suddenly my child became another seat that was filled by the school. I was told that no one ever told me busing would be provided; which would have helped with the anxiety issue and the ADHD so he doesn't get lost or distracted walking alone to the city bus. We are working class parents who work from 7-6; meaning we need to be on our way to work by 6 and we had to call in late this whole week; but my husband was told that this could no longer happen or he would be given two weeks notice. The school keeps passing the buck to another department and we are beyond upset. They pretend they care but they don't....Parent Review3y ago2 Reviews - Check out schools near 17841 Murdock Ave.

"This area is clearly declining as is evident in the aging homes wanting renovation and upkeep. There is little else here in addition to the history in the name - schools, transportation, sanitation services, parks, things one would expect from a prime neighborhood are lacking. "

"You have to really look hard into the schools. All districts are not created equal and this is NOT one of the better ones. As for the neighborhood itself, each block has a different personality. One block may be safe and if you go 2 blocks away, it’s dangerous. Check the Citizen app to see which to avoid."

"The history of the architecture of some of the homes are beautiful. You have some gorgeous Tudor homes and quaint, quiet streets in some areas. Also, many famous African-Americans have lived in this area. There are still many, hardworking folks and families who live here. I hope the neighborhood will become safer over time. It takes a community to make it happen. "

"It’s a quiet neighborhood with good neighbors. No one hanging out in front of the stores. The store owners are super friendly!"
