Newman High is a great public school

All I'll say is thank God this school got shut down. Their special education program was so abhorrent and abusive it traumatized my child and others. They allowed a para to bully the students year after year, and they could never retain a teacher for that classroom for longer than a year or two. I can only hope if the staff have moved on to other schools that they're held much more accountable.

Do NOT send your child here.Based on my family’s experience, this school has had ongoing issues with pests, bullying, and unprofessional behavior from certain staff members.My child attends this school, and some of the treatment she hasreceived has been extremely concerning. A couple of weeks ago, she came home in tears after a lunch staff member made a comment suggesting she “should stop eating so much because it’s becoming noticeable.” Just two days later, one of her Specials teachersallegedly told her to “leave me alone” even though she was actively bleeding and needed help.I’ve also noticed what appears to be questionable food quality in the cafeteria. On oneoccasion, my child became sick, and I believe it was due to spoiled food she was served. When I contacted the school about this, their response was dismissive and placed the blame on my child instead of addressingthe issue.Safety has also been a major concern. During a recent fire drill, a student was apparently left inside the building without staff immediately noticingIncidents like this are unacceptable.Additionally, I’ve had negative interactions involving the principal, Mr. Nos. He reportedly made an inappropriate comment to my childabout her weight, implying she “should burn off the food since she isn’t healthy.” As a parent who works hard to take care of my child, this was extremely upsetting. I’ve also heard of similar issues reported by other parents regardingdisrespectful comments or behavior from certain teachers, administrators, and cafeteria staff toward students of all body types.At this point, my child has been struggling emotionally becauseof these experiences over the past few years.If any other parents have advice on how to handle this situation or the proper steps to take, I would really appreciateit.
