I did all I could to help my son succeed in school with an established IEP and they still let him fail 2nd grade. He was given an award for most improved in the area that had the failing grade and yet they still tried to convince me he should be held back. The principal was more concerned about hurting the teacher's feelings than my son's education and self esteem. I had several meetings with several staff members, and the teacher throughout the school year and was told he was doing just fine. When this was obviously not the case, I had another meeting with the teacher and she basically told me there isn't anything I could really do to help get his grade up and she said this in the middle of the school year. They could not explain to how to better help my child but expected your kids to just magically learn the material without learning from their mistakes.
