"They wouldn't like it because dogs are always being stolen and used in illegal activity. There is a dog park, however, for those who have indoor dogs. "

"I live here and love it. Laurel/Jones County is an excellent place to raise children and families. The City of Laurel has twice received the prestigious Livable Community Award, named Tree City USA. Laurel is a quaint, historical, charming city with great attributes. The 75-year-old Lauren Rogers Museum of Art boasts more than 2,000 items in its collections and over 10,000 square feet of exhibition areas. Community concerts, theatre, and ballet are favored recreational options. There are state ranked baseball, tennis, soccer, swim, and football teams throughout the community and nationally ranked junior college teams. Laurel is proud of its multi-million dollar sportsplex with an Olympic-sized swimming pool. State Games of MS, as well as Dixie Youth Baseball are hosted in Laurel. Schools are rated in Mississippi's top rated schools and elementary schools about 7 years old. Quiet town, low crime rate due to expertly trained law enforcement. Laurel is home to internationally known Sanderson Farms and Howard Industries. Rated among MS top retirement communities. Located within 2 hours of state capital, Miss.
