My son graduated from Marine View last year. At the time, I knew the academic rigor wasn’t very strong, but now that he’s in high school, it’s become very noticeable. Unfortunately, my son was not well prepared for the expectations of high school after attending this school.In math, students were allowed to retake tests as many times as they wanted to get a B and most assessments were open-note or open-book. Novel reading was almost entirely done in class, with only a couple of books read each year. Nothing to challenge the students. My son is now attending high school and after 1st semester completed, it he was not adequately prepared academically. Thankfully, the high school offers tutoring and has excellent, hands-on teachers who have helped him adjust. The only teacher at Marine View who truly prepared him for high school expectations was Mrs. Robinson in science.The principal was not very present and seemed to rely heavily on the vice principal for day-to-day operations. Unfortunately, the vice principal was inconsistent with discipline and often implemented unnecessary or arbitrary rules.If you are looking for strong academics, high school preparation, and the development of critical thinking skills, this is not the school for you. However, if your child’s interests lean more toward singing and dancing, Marine View may be a good fit.

This is my family’s 8th year attending Village View and it is truly the best place to send your children. My 13 yr old son is a product of Village View and he is a straight A student in the G.A.T.E program at Mesa View. When it was time to enroll our son into kindergarten we fell in love with the community feel and security of having our school tucked away in a neighborhood. Parents walk their kids to school and everyone knows each other and we look after each other’s kids. Village view has an amazing special needs program providing a loving and welcoming community to children on the spectrum to medically fragile children. I always feel my children’s education, mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing has always been a priority to the teachers and staff. The PTO and families at Village View are truly one in a million.

I am a current parent of two students at this school. One who is taking Advanced Placement classes and plays three varsity sports. My other student is part of a Career Technical Education pathway. In our experience, the school has been amazing. Teachers really care about our students and how they’re doing. They’re very supportive and go to their games to cheer them on. School culture is very positive and there’s a million ways for students to connect with clubs and leadership classes. Marina’s principal was selected as the top principal of California by two different organizations for two consecutive years. He’s done so much to transform the school and this is the best year ever! The whole admin team is approachable and helpful. Marina’s Athletic programs are some of the best in Orange County, our teams consistently win league and more recently CIF titles. They will be the first in the area to offer a Marine Corps JROTC in the Fall of 2025. So exciting to be part of a campus that really cares about students and school culture!
