We enrolled our son at LAE in 2019 after we moved and had a negative experience with MDCPS. He was held back in our previous county due to poor testing and grades so it was his second time in 1st grade. We had some issues in the beginning transferring his IEP and services that involved meeting with Mr. Burkett (the principal) and contacting the district for support during the IEP process. The school heard all of my concerns and implemented changes to make the IEP process better. During my son's time at LAE, he completely changed from an unconfident, withdrawn failing student to an excelling, out of the box thinker. Besides his excellent grades, he also scores extremely well on his distract exams (4's on his most recent district testing) all while navigating ASD. I've always been a relentless advocate for my young learner and any time there is an obstacle, the school has worked with me to resolve and move forward from issues. I can even assure any doubting parent that when my son had a MAJOR medical emergency in school one day paramedics was contacted immediately as well as us parents. His teacher at the time acted swiftly and took the rest of the class on a short recess to protect them from what was happening while allowing EMS a clear classroom to give my child proper medical interventions. I can't speak for other parents but our experience was overwhelmingly positive- My child was always well cared for is that much more prepared for middle school because of the education and support he received at LAE. My advice is to always speak up on issues as you know your child best and to believe the best in people so that you can amicably resolve issues. The staff truly care about the students' well-being and worked with me to get my son as independently functioning as he is now.

This school is absolute garbage. My sister is enrolled in this school and the security, everything is awful. The school has gotten several bomb threats and the most they do will be checkups. My sister has been sexually assaulted many times by a classmate who has done the same to other girls. She has told her counselor and a few teachers but they have never said anything about it and have also just told her to "stay away" from him multiple times. The school is also insanely bad with bullying, especially those of the disabled kids. It is also a big problem for kids of other ethnicities and religions, beliefs and orientation. The teachers really do not care about doing their job either and I have also seen that they might use AI. Overall this is not a good school, and our family is thinking of filing a police report against said kid who sexually assaulted my sister and many other girls, and maybe even the school itself. Shame on the teachers for ever letting this happen, please never go to Auburn High School in Florida, it is seriously a bad place and no teacher takes any problem seriously.

In my opinion my school is good. Most students are very disrespectful to teachers. My favorite teachers are Mrs. Gautier (chorus) she deserves a raise. Mr. Rojas (computer class) deserves a raise as well. Mrs. Wilindez (pre-algebra) most tend to be rude but it is for a reason they want to teach you what high school could possibly be like. The end
