5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI currently go to this school and I don’t like it. There are fights almost daily and a lot of people don’t care about other’s education and are loud and annoying (even in the magnet program) which teachers don’t do much about. However, MOST teachers are great at their jobs and understanding. The band program is amazing though, we went to FSU for Prisim and it was amazing! The current band director is also very nice. A lot of people are really mean though. I don’t recommend going hereStudent Review4mo ago11 Reviews - Gainesville High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a student of GHS, I believe serious changes should be made. There is mold in some of the bathrooms and classrooms, and the school often smells like the sewer. That’s not a healthy environment for students or staff.Since the new principal arrived, pep rallies have been taken away, making the school feel more like a boot camp than a place for learning and connection. School is meant for education, yes, but it should also be positive and memorable experience for teenagers. We deserve a balance between learning and enjoyment. It also feels like teachers aren’t being properly supported, and changes only happen when parents step in. As this is my last year, I wanted it to be one I could remember fondly, but instead, it feels depressing and dull.GHS needs improvements: more parking spaces, cleaner facilities, better maintenance , and the return of fun activities that bring students together — like pep rallies. If so much is being taken away, at least give us that. Students deserve a safe, fun, and motivating environment to learn in.Student Review6mo ago16 Reviews - Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Elementary School

"Gainesville is not much of a dog friendly city. There are tons of cute dogs but no large (green) parks for play, now water fountains for dogs on trail ways, and few places to throw away dog waste (although my neighborhood is better about this one). "

"Lots of trails and parks to take your dogs to which is a plus. Some owners tend to not pick up after their dogs, but I suppose that’s bound to happen anywhere."

"We have many residents of all ages. There are families with children, retirees. and college students. Our neighborhood is strong with great social events like Halloween, ice cream socials, and a community garage sale. There are lots of people who walk in or neighborhood even though we don't have sidewalks. "
