Our experience at Derry Area has been terrible. I should have realized when I received not so inviting calls before they even met my daughter. They do not like kids that previously home or cyber schooled. Her time has been spent with bullying from kids and staff alike. I'm referring to detentions related to needing a pad, inability to get their ancient lockers open, or running out of lead in their pencil. The nurse announced she was obese in front of kids that bullied her when her pediatrician disagrees. Safe to say was used as a bullying method. Now, she's self-conscious about her size and feels like no one likes her. All this on top of her brother being deployed (very close and missing him). They also don't like the way she dresses because it's not girly, but is expensive. Add in that she now thinks it's OK to be hit, if teachers can find an excuse. Do your kids a favor and don't allow them near this school.

Poor learning experience & unsupportive teachers and staff.

Absolutely horrible! Maria Kester doesn’t pay attention to the kids! My 3 year old came home with bruises on his cheek and legs and when brought to the principals attention the first thing she said was I couldn’t assumed it happened here. The bruises most certainly didn’t happen on my watch! Not only that this place is against freedom of speech. The principal is completely incompetent! Would not recommend! Pulled both my kids out and took to another local school!
