2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has attended this school since it opened in 2012. Our first experience there was wonderful. Now the academics have declined. There have been 3 different administrators in 4 years. This year my son enter above grade level when he tested. He is now behind in math due to a lack of having a qualified teacher and no supports put in place to accommodate the vacancy. I am very disappointed and am now looking for another school. This school started off as an excellent institution and now has declined. This year alone is the highest teacher turnaround I've seen. There are now fights in the building. It's very disheartening.Parent Review8y ago - Barber Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHappy I switched my kids school to Barber Preparatory Academy. The staff is familiar with kids on a first name basis. They let the kids know they love and care for them. Teaches use class Dojo, communication is good between parents and staff. It’s my kids second year with the school and will continue.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 160 W Richton St S.

"you will find that neighborhoods are great place if you make it so if you are a scary person and things seem so but if you are not afraid and have the intestinal fortitude to be neighborly in any condition things will always work out"

"My commute is ok. I prefer the Q line but it only goes to the boulevard. The Bus lines are getting better."

"There is usually a block party or neighborhood party somewhere on Woodward during the summer. However there isn’t much that “Highland Park” does as a neighborhood. The events that are here or pass through here are most likely here due to Detroit having events. And seeing as the community is not the safest I personally do not participate in the community events.
