About this House

Welcome to 16 Timber Lane. This fabulous Geodesic Dome Home is settled on 3.75 Acres of natural land that abuts the magnificent Shenipsit State Forest. Designed to be a passive solar home, this property is extremely energy efficient. The southern exposure allows the winter sun to collect heat in the grand stone work in the living room to create warmth in the winter months. The geothermal heat pump installed in 2008 supplies heat in the winter and AC in the summer and is approximately one third of the operating cost of a conventional heating system. The dome has a ten sided foundation and a space frame of 63 triangles which gives this dwelling incredible strength. A new roof was installed in 2015 with many other appreciable home
improvements. The updated kitchen with open concept is complemented with gorgeous granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and bamboo wood flooring. The dining area and main hallway have also been revamped with new hardwood flooring as well. The master bedroom with walk-in closet is conveniently located on the first floor and the master bathroom and the half bath have both been attractively remodeled. Freshly painted throughout. Other improvements and enhancements include front walkway, driveway redone 2018, new outside lighting, finished basement with new ceiling tiles, three new sliding doors and walk up attic storage over garage. "It’s quiet and off the beaten path. Neighborhood is inviting and the school district is great. Wonderful town to raise a family in. We have been here 17 years and have enjoyed all of them. Great local eateries available. "
  • Connie Fogarty
"The Ellington farmers market in town. I do know most of my neighbors and we do talk to each other. We don’t hang out though but do help each other out."
  • ConnieF
"There aren’t sidewalks and people speed on the road. I don’t even like walking on it, I drive to safe places to walk like cemetery and downtown Ellington or over to willington to the track "
  • CJ
"It’s a drive to anywhere. No public transportation. I’m lucky and only commute 4 miles but my job is part time with poor pay. For a real job you have to drive 30-45 mins to a larger more populated area. "
  • Ben
"Farmers market on Saturdays, trick or treating, fall festival, memorial day parade, firemans fair and several community festival events "
  • Caitlinept14
"Turning into another Manchester, the people too. Not so friendly as it used to be here unfortunately. "
  • Giadionedwards
"We are close to the bus line in Rockville so a you still have access to that but the neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors are friendly"
  • Hollygrammm
"Great schools with a nice small teacher to student ratio. Plenty of green space and sports fields. The recreation department has activities for all ages."
  • Dtplickys
"We are 25 minutes from major highways . Farming community so smelly and farm tractors on roads ar commuting times. Tractor trailer training school nearby also uses our roads. Main road through town is becoming a very busy area with a lot of businesses and traffic, very uncharacteristic of what Ellington represents."
  • D G.
"I am 5 minutes from I84 so I can get everywhere I need to go very quickly. There is rarely any traffic that I need to deal with. "
  • Dtplickys
"Takes 20 minutes to get to the highways. Very rural, passes by cornfields and cow farm. Grocery, pharmacy, hardware and gasoline stores are 15 minutes away. Close to Massachusetts border and not a long drive to Connecticut or Rhode Island Beaches. Also a short drive to Northern New England for winter skiing."
  • Debra B.
"I commute on town roads to Vernon most days. There is rarely any traffic to slow you down. Are used to take the commuter bus out of Windsor locks to Hartford which was also very convenient."
  • Ellington life
"I have lived in Ellington for 55 years and it has changed in the last 10 years for the worse. People are not as nice, schools are not as good, zoning is out of control and the farm is disgusting."
  • Denise D.
"Ellington is a farm town that lacks many conveniences. Certain areas away from the farm smell are very pretty if you enjoy a rural lifestyle. "
  • Debra B.
"The area that I live in is not good for walking dogs as there are no sidewalks. I do see people walking their dog at Arbor Park in the center of town. Most homes in Ellington have sufficient property to allow the dog to have plenty of outdoor space roam. There are also a number of hiking trails in the area that allow well behaved dogs on a leash."
  • Almojones45
"I commute to Hartford every day. 83 can have some traffic in the morning, but nothing over 5 minutes "
  • Joan B. M.
"My neighborhood is situated where farms meet the suburbs There is access to amenities as well as farm to table shopping"
  • Elle71385
"Ellington has a small town feel. A few nice country views, great local spots and plenty of places to buy Farm to table"
  • Crystalortylvalley
"I’ve lived here for 10 years and love it! It’s amazing area. The people are so friendly and comforting. "
  • Sarahgaer
"My neighborhood is very quiet and the neighbors are friendly. We are less then 5 minutes to groceries, hardware store and several decent restaurants. About 20 minutes from the highway. "
  • Connie F.
"I’ve lived here 2 1/2 years neighbors are friendly enough with out being in your face all the time. We watch out for each other’s pets and houses."
