"The neighborhood has fantastic access to the Cove on the Charles River, a wonderful park. The area is quiet, but has amazing accessibility to the whole Boston area via I-90, I-95, Green Line, Commuter Rail, and Express Bus. The community hosts an annual PorchFest block party with dozens of bands playing on front porches, which is a highlight every year."
    • Justindbuck
"The community block party and porchfest with live music are traditional yearly events. Great neighborhood for Halloween."
    • Trulia User

    • Bdeiter36
"Boston marathon runs though, lots of great jogging and bike paths on street. Occasional farmers markets in the summer. "
    • Donna h.
"Boston Marathon and Halloween are celebrated events. Often neighbors throw parties in celebration of events. Also block parties are popular too "
    • Mcmp
"Newton is a community of friendly smart people, excellent and progressive schools, and very very safe neighborhoods. It’s relatively diverse for a generally wealthy town, with lots of mixed income housing and some great blue collar neighborhoods. Our kids’ small elementary school (Burr) community had 27 languages other than English spoken at home. "
    • Philip G.
"There's a local unofficial dog park. There's also the median strip of Comm Ave, and ball fields and the hiking trails for dogs to play in."
    • Philip G.
"There are parks, neighborhood eateries, and canoeing on the Charles."
    • Philip G.
"You can walk, take a bus, car, or bike. Walking is best. You'll always run into people you know or will know."
    • Philip G.
"Great schools parks, and families here. The kids and parents will feel good about the suggestion and the families they meet."
    • Daksha G.
"Auburndale is a clean and green neighborhood which can be enjoyed by pets and pet owners."
    • Daksha G.
"Auburndale is a safe city to live in and a quiet neighborhood too."
    • Daksha G.

    • Anna K.
"Everyone is friendly and there's a sense of community. There's a nice mix of historical buildings and newer buildings."
    • Anna K.
"It's a really pretty drive around the neighborhood and up Comm Ave. It's also easily accessible to the pike and other major highways. It's also nice to drive by the Charles River."
    • Anna K.
"I think there are a lot of kids who live here and it is a safe neighborhood. I've never felt unsafe in the past 4 years of living here. The schools are also excellent."
    • Natasha M.
"Dog owners would like the park nearby. Most residents are great with cleaning up after themselves."
    • Natasha M.
"We just got a new Starbucks. We also have Brueggers Bagels. The Auburndale Shaws has the best sushi."
    • Natasha M.
"The commute is trafficky, but it is very close to I-95 and I-90. During rush hour, people are stuck in standstill traffic."
    • Natasha M.
"It is quite safe. There are many playgrounds."
    • Irina F.
"1 min to Rt128/Rt90 - and quiet, we sleep w/windows open. 15 min to Copley Sq. and it's a green area w/park, river, playground, picnic area in the backyard. Commuter rail station 5 min walk away, Riverside T-station 3 min drive, 20 min walk. Shops etc. 5 min walk."
    • Carol M. T.
"This is a hidden gem part of Newton with wonderful access to the Ma. Pike, Rt. 95 and the Commuter Rail. Riverside Station on the Green line is within a 10-15 minute walk. Lovely old homes. Good neighborhood shcool (Burr) and huge park on the Charles River (The Cove)."
    • Bacigalupe
"Auburndale is one of the communities of Newton and not the most expensive. Connected to 128, the Pike, subway, train station, bus, etc. Probably one of the best towns and this area of Newton is only 20 minutes from downtown via the Mass Pike or the train. Subway is 3/4 of a mile. Perfect for kids but the neighborhood has all ages and family compositions. Few houses on sale and many are sold without advertising. Ask around. Houses are not cheap but they never loose value because of the schools, etc. "
    • M K.
"There are a number of older houses in the area. However, location is great. You are next to rt 90 and 95, public transportation, parks and great schools."
