While the teachers say they want to work with you and do respond in a somewhat timely manner, if you find out your child is struggling the teacher he had said she was going to compile a list for us to work on and then told my son in class to work on one subject at a time instead of sending everything home so we can work on different subjects. My son has reported that their lunches are always cold and as a result taste like it’s been sitting out for a long time. They basically get no warm lunches so a lot of food gets thrown out. During recess the yard aides don’t let the kids relax in the shade if it’s hot out. They expect kids to play the whole time even during triple digit weather! If you’re late picking up your child they make them wait outside the office, even during bad/hot weather. Kids try to wait in the office because it’s hot and the office people make them go back outside in the heat, even if the children are completely quiet. Their communication overall is extremely delayed so you will need to call the office to get any information otherwise they send out information the night before or after the fact. Last minute the principal emailed that the school received funds to send all kids in 2 months for “a week” which is for 3 days of the week and the number of students attending depends on how many chaperones can go. What about teachers? How can you get funding to take all students but then give such a limited window to complete the forms, have chaperones apply (process is 2 month process), and its first come process so if not enough chaperones not all students can go. They give absolutely no time for parents to make arrangements or give consideration for all kids to make it to Camp Keep.

Negative Covid test and the refused to let my son return to school. I transfered him to a different school to further continue his education, since the school is lacking in every aspect.

I cannot believe the level of communication this school has with parents when it really matters. I understand this high school and we’re teaching our children to be more independent but an incoming freshman coming into this school is lost and they’re very slow about getting lockers, gym lockers, delivering vital information like early outs every Monday, syllabus for every class so the students know what is expected. Not all kids remember information verbally. Some need documentation to refer back to. And if your child is a freshman trying out for sports no information is relayed to the parents about tryouts, transportation home, requirements for practice, nothing. I’m not sure if it’s the leadership or the area the school is used to interacting with but communication is VERY LIMITED here. They focus so much on bilingual communication for forms and school spirit instead of communication. This is so opposite of the schools in the northwest side of town and very disappointing. If you move to this side of town on purpose be prepared to do a lot of calling and bugging to get the information you need from them. School barely started and I have called this school more than I ever did since my child started school in kindergarten!
