3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son in kindergarten came home and told me that boys can wear dresses and they can wear pink and there was a closet where they could wear clothes. They huddled my nine year olds in a room with strangers as they taught them how to have sex. I didn’t sign off on any of this. The students were calling my kids the N-word and told them they could say it too, when I confronted the school and told them that’s not allowed they said we can’t stop anybody because that would be racism. A Child got arrested almost every single day there and this is the most disgusting school I have ever had my kids in. As soon move them out to entirely different school district. Even if you can’t pay for it, there are possibilities and you have to be creative. I wouldn’t even move in that area if I were you. They have houses that look nice and that do you cost more but the larger picture is that the not so good community has more children. Take it for what it is, these are the facts. Fax hurt you and put your kids there. The school straight up told me that it’s more like a daycare, then a school.Parent Review7mo ago - Muriel Battle High School

"No community events in this area. Columbia in general is not a safe place to live and does not promote a healthy lifestyle. Very few bike lanes, and what they do have is not well maintained. Do not feel safe running and walking alone."
- Shana G.
- Resident

"Columbia is a small city, more of a large town. It is home to 3 universities and 4 major hospitals. These resources bring an influx of college students, young professionals, highly educated middle aged families with kids, and diverse people from around the world. There are many well paying jobs for every level of education and experience and housing is affordable when compared with cities of this size. There are many opportunities for volunteers and community involvement. "
- Deena K.

"There are a lot of pet stores and people with pets. Also, there are many doggy daycare-type places. "

"people minding their own business when you’re walking like it’s incredibly refreshing for you to be going on a run and someone else is on a run and you both make sure to be on opposite sides of the road so you don’t have to be too close"
- Haleighanthony99

"There’s a dog park. But it would be nice if there were fenced back yards. Sometimes people in the neighborhood just let their dogs wonder off leash and that’s inconvenient and unsafe at times"
- Brittany K.
- Resident

"There are a few sidewalks for safe walking with dogs. And traffic is generally kept to a minimum, and slow moving. "
- Drew

"Good area for walking dogs. Friendly people. Parks are fairly close by and there are walking trails nearby as well."
- Gary

"Everyone I come in contact with always waves and usually makes eye contact. While I don’t know all of their names, I do know all of their dog”s names. The landscaping is always kept up and all of us who live by the lake all seem to be “outdoor people”. During the summer., it’s common to see the streets almost crowded with walkers and joggers—even a few bikers. (Along with all the dogs, of course)"
