"Lots of speeding cars, poorly enforced speed limits. Be cautious walking children on the sidewalks and look twice"
  • Ducatiharley
"Lovely town to live and raise your family. Very diverse town and great school system. Many near by shopping centers and great eaterys. Great police and law enforcement in town. One complaint is some parts of town are busy. Well light streets and sidewalks. "
  • Nicole N.
"My commute is generally hassle free. Without traffic, it takes me ten minutes to get to work. There is also easy access to Berlin turnpike and 91."
  • Elizabeth G.
"There are two great parks. Both have pools and one has a huge play area for the kids. Most of my neighbors feel comfortable letting their kids ride/walk around the neighborhood with limited supervision."
  • Josefinacastillo21
"My neighborhood is beautiful, clean and quiet. The school system is great! It has a lot of trees and green areas. Very close to shopping areas. "
  • Andrea S.

" I mainly use public transit to commute. It’s fairly easy a bus comes every hour or if you don’t mind walking, there are two Fastrak bus stations within a 20 minute walk from my home."

  • Mel C.
"Fairly pleasant, I travel all back roads to and from work. And during the occasional times I have to use the major roadways and highways, it’s not so bad as long as you pay attention, and it’s fairly quick getting to East Hartford. "
  • Kieran O.
"Annual Waterfall Fest AnnualChristmas carols and tree lighting Annual Fireworks extravaganza Annual Car show Annual Memorial Day Parade"
  • R.crosswaith%40gmail.com
"The Berlin Turnpike provides a straight shot to downtown Hartford. Traffic moves steadily and I normally can get downtown in 25-35 minutes. "
  • Kirsten D.
"My commute is right here in town. When i worked out of town, I had many different options to get there since Newington is so convenient."
  • Kirsten D.

"I see people walking dogs all the time, and there is a park nearby which is great for walks. The neighborhood is very friendly to dogs."
  • Rios3hijas
"I have lived here for 10 years. What I don’t like folks do not clean after their pets. Otherwise Newington a good place to live and raise your family."
  • E P
"I wouldn’t say it’s unique, but it’s quiet and people are friendly. Clean, roads could be a little better and no side walks "
  • Oldawnie
"Dog walking, quite a few dogs. Dog-friendliness. No dogs allowed to roam loose. Nice dog meadow on Church St."
  • Oldawnie
"We have lived here for 33 years. In our immediate vicinity, our yards are large and there are few houses mixed with small commercial entities (gas station, coffee shop, hair salon, restaurant, small grocery). Our next-door neighbor has lived here for over 60 years. Well-established area. Neighbors don’t socialize with each other, but speak and exchange greetings. The size of the properties gives privacy, and interacting with the town is up to the individual, and at different levels. One neighbor is active in scouting. When our son went through the school system, that brought us more into school activities. There are few kids in the vicinity, That has been true through out time here. Properties are kept up. It’s a quiet place to live. There’s a lot of traffic on Hartford Ave, but the houses are sheltered by trees and set back on the property."
  • Trulia User
"There is a great grooming salon right down the road. And there are many neighbors with dogs. They walk them at the park."
  • Cindyart61
"We have lived her 15 yrs and are very happy Quiet, well kept homes. Friendly neighbors. Not a lot of traffic. "
  • Samario1984
"I thoroughly enjoy living in the town of Newington! It’s a nice place to live and lots of our neighbors are very friendly. "
  • Kyle K.
"Pumpkin sales at the church. Student car washes at the high school. Block parties in the neighborhood."
  • R c. 4. c.
"The commute to downtown Hartford is very easy via the Berlin Turnpike. A car is a must have here in the suburbs, although the state is trying to have more busses come through Newington, which can help with the trip into Hartford. Traffic to/from Newington sometimes builds up, but is normally always moving and doesn’t take more than a half hour into Hartford."
  • Crystal G.
"we have mill pond park which throws events frequently for the whole town. market square also holds events like car shows, farmers market and flea markets."
  • Luis D.
"Glen Oaks is literally within reach from everything the Berlin Trpk has to offer. We are also close to Silas Deanne Hwy :)"
