Description

This is an Ocean Front Duplex Bungalow in Lanikai with incredible views and direct access to the ocean via a dedicated stairway. It's located exactly in front of the twin Mokulua Islands, thus providing endless hours of outstanding views from the ocean front yard, the living room, dining room, and side deck.

"We had an amazing time at this perfectly located property in Lanikai."

"This is an amazing place to stay, and very comfortable."

"This was a family vacation that frankly was one of the best ones we had based mainly on the location of the property and the graciousness of the owners to provide all of the elements of a relaxed, easy going vacation experience. "

A perfect place to work remotely, as you have an ocean playground at your doorstep when you need a break. We have fiber optic cable to the house which provides extremely high speed internet.

Our railed stairway to the ocean gives you easy access for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. Kayaks can be rented from several local companies, most of which will drop-off and pick-up for free or for a small charge, and the kayaks can be launched down the stairway. The ocean floor in front of the house is sandy and great for swimming and floating, while further out there's great snorkeling.

As you relax in the yard, on the lanai, or in the house, you'll see all kinds of action floating by: outrigger canoes, kayakers, standup paddle boarders, fishermen, kite boards, sail boats, and more. The natural breeze usually keeps things cool and comfortable.

Your bungalow is a simple and comfortable two bedroom, one-bath ocean front duplex. We can accommodate four guests: 2 in the lanai bedroom (King bed), and 2 in the ocean front bedroom (Queen Bed). There is also a queen sized futon in the living room. In addition to the shower in the bathroom, there is an outdoor hot water shower, which is the preferred showering location for many of our guests. The King bedroom has a window air conditioner unit.

The side deck includes relaxation areas, easy access to the kitchen and bathroom, and outdoor shower area. The outer deck has a table with chairs, a canopy, outdoor mood lights, and a propane BBQ.

The property is gated, with an automatic gate with remote. So your car will be safe and secure. [If you need more than one vehicle, the second will need to be parked on the street.]

The two sides of the duplex are private and well-separated. The owners maintain a low profile, but are always available if needed. You may not even see them during your visit unless you run into them in the driveway or the ocean front yard. The yard is divided by a privacy panel and the owners have a small outdoor area on their side of panel.

Reviews from past guests:

Fantastic location on the water
This is an amazing place to stay, and very comfortable. There were numerous thoughtful touches that made the stay very pleasant. We used all the different gathering spaces. We especially used the ocean. It's right there!

The kitchen was well supplied, much better than the typical rental. There was an abundance of beach chairs, coolers, toys, and beach towels. There was a lot of comfortable seating indoors and out. It seemed like every need had been thought of and addressed. The four adults in our group would be happy to stay here again.

Oodles of fun
We had an amazing time at this perfectly located property in Lanikai. The hosts were great and helped out with anything we needed. Very well equipped cute and comfy accommodation, loved the bedroom with the ocean view along with the breeze and sound of the waves. Mahalo.

Wonderful Stay!
My husband and I stayed at this property for a month with another couple and had an amazing time. The hosts were incredible--available when needed, but also respecting our privacy as well. The property itself was clean and well maintained- definitely the best stocked VRBO we've ever stayed in. As we all worked for the first two weeks of our stay, the fiber internet and multiple seating areas were vital and made working remotely a breeze. The space is even larger than it seems in the photos. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a relaxing oceanfront vacation stay, remote work environment, or combination of the two. We didn't want to leave and would have extended our stay if possible. Overall an amazing value for what you get. We made many wonderful memories and will definitely be back!

Lanikai Leisure
This was a great waterfront cottage - spacious & comfortable with terrific views. The ocean breeze was so nice we never turned on the AC. As a cook, I found the kitchen to be extremely well equipped for cooking true meals - which was nice with the COVID restaurant restrictions still in place. The hosts were friendly and helpful and answered any and all questions promptly. It was a perfect place for my husband and I and our two adult sons to relax and enjoy our time together.

Waterfront ! Waterfront ! Waterfront !
This was a family vacation that frankly was one of the best ones we had based mainly on the location of the owner's property and his graciousness to provide all of the elements of a relaxed, easy going vacation experience. The location of the house is in a beautiful community just south if Lanikai with a small, private beach that is spectacular for sunrise beach walks or just playing in the sand. Our kids (12 & 10) just loved this place! They could easiliy come in and out of the ocean and we enjoy watching them playing right there.

Spacious, clean and amazing views to provide a great place to relax or explore the windward side of Oahu. Highly recommended.

Wonderful in every way!
Exceeded our expectations! From the location to the comfort of the home and the great hosts. The pictures truly show the beautiful view from the home and yard. We will return soon. Aloha!

Private Paradise
The hosts were great. They gave us super helpfull information about places to go, things to do and were available at anytime. The house was a dream come true. Spacious, comfortable and clean with a yard to die for. You just have to go downstairs to get into the beautiful, calm water at any time! Best location. Just a few minutes in car from kailua center and beach where you can get anything you need. We had a great family vacation and we would love to come back!

Wonderful!
My family of four had a great stay at this well-maintained, spacious, incredibly located home. We so enjoyed sitting outside by the water on the lovely lawn, cooking on the new bbq, and swimming/kayaking/paddle boarding as we wished. You'll not find a better location to find your aloha spirit! The home is very well appointed with things you may need (kitchen, washer/dryer, linens, towels, etc.), and was comfortable for our family. We highly recommend, and can't wait to be back!

If you're searching for a place in Lanakai look no further. My GF and I were looking for an escape from the NW rain and I'm so thankful we found this Hawaiian oasis. The location is amazing and has the most incredible views of the Mokes! Short walk to Lanakai beach and Pillbox hike but who needs that when you have a swim step in your backyard? This is a duplex but feels very private and relaxing at all times. The owners were super friendly and made us feel right at home. Home has a great layout with a huge open space. I work remotely and there's a perfect work station with plenty of counter space and fast/reliable wifi for business travelers. Kitchen is fully stocked with pretty much anything you could need. Look forward to coming back!

Four star location. We loved every moment of our stay.
Just perfect. The location is truly amazing... you are right on the water. The home has a nice lawn area with a BBQ that we used most nights, hammock and a couple of spots for outdoor dining and several for enjoying the outdoors. There is not a beach out front but the ocean is only a few feet deep with stairs that take you over the short sea wall into the sand-bottomed water. There is a small beach about 30 yards away that we waded to and gorgeous, large, Lanikai Beach about a quarter mile down. We walked to it often and kayaked there as well. The very large and fantastic Kailua Brach is about a mile away. We walked, drove and bikes there often. The lifestyle this home affords is amazing. We hiked, kayaked to the beach and Islands just offshore, biked, swam and surfed right out the door or very close to the house. It is not a luxury mansion though... simple, clean and with friendly hosts. If you want four star accommodations, look elsewhere. If you want a four star location, this is the spot. Rent bikes and kayaks and live the beach life you've always dreamed of. Highly recommended.

Beach cabin feel along the Lanikai loop.
We had a wonderful stay in this quaint, quiet, and picturesque spot. There is no sandy beach along the front of the property but down a few steps and into knee deep water for a relaxing swim. No need to worry about a crowd. Sitting on the lawn or in the family room gives an unforgettable view that is second to none. Would rent and stay here again in a heartbeat. the owner is on top of keeping things up and everything is there you need. It seemed like he thought of everything. Loved it here!

Perfect in Every Way
My whole family loved staying at Moku Lani Vacation Rental! We have been visiting relatives in Lanikai for over 20 years and we loved this place so much, we will definitely rent it again. The owners are extremely welcoming and kind and are always available if we had questions. We also barely noticed they were next door which was the best of both worlds. The beds are comfortable, including the futon, and the living room is great to relax in. We spent most of our time on the lanai or on the back patio. The view is unbelievable. Probably the best view of the Mokuluas on the island. The pictures don't do them justice. In the mornings, we would wake up and watch the sunrise on the Mokes and listen to the colorful birds chirp. About 5 minutes into our stay, a sea turtle swam by. In the evenings we would watch the outrigger canoes race by and at night we would fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean. Instead of going to the beaches, we would walk down the staircase and jump right in the ocean. At low tide (morning), you can walk along a small sandbar near the rock wall. We rented stand-up paddle boards from a local shop and easily carried them to and from the ocean. If you have a snorkel, we recommend exploring the reef nearby. Once we were done playing in the water, we would walk back up the stairs and dry off under the sun on the comfy lounge chairs. There's lots to do nearby but if pure vacation relaxation is your speed, we highly recommend staying at Moku Lani Vacation Rental!

THE MOST AMAZING SPOT IN ALL OF OAHU
Moku Lani Vacation Rental is absolutely incredible
I frequent Oahu at least twice a year, always use a service to find a place to stay and search no more
It doesn't get better than this
The place is huge with two bedrooms, a full kitchen, bathroom, dining area, living room, plenty of closet space and more than enough room to lounge around and do nothing. Outside, on the side of the house there is a HOT shower as well as two covered sitting areas. The backyard is all grass and literally kisses the ocean. They have lounge chairs and tables and a BBQ and my favorite was the hammock. They have everything. All you need is your bikini and you are good to go!! The view is nothing like Ive ever seen. Fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves and wake up to the Moku islands, It never gets old. The owners were amazing hosts. If we needed anything they were very accommodating and at the same time were completely invisible. The location is the best on the entire island. Very quiet and very lush. Just a 3 minutes drive into Kailua town. It's PERFECT I felt like I had built the perfect beach cottage for myself. I will always stay there whenever I come back. ALWAYS
Trust me it doesn't get better than this.

A Great Cottage in a Wonderful Location
We thoroughly enjoyed our entire week
the house was clean, comfortable, and just earthy enough to feel like home. Although we never met, the owner was totally responsive and attentive, fixing a minor plumbing issue on a weekend, and making sure everything was right for us -- which it was. We are already planning our next trip to Lanikai, and this is our first choice for accommodations.
Chris G, March 2018

Amazing place! Unbeatable view!
Great Hawaiian experience. View is incredible. Everything to feel relaxed is available. Covered Lanai, hammock in the sun, and outdoor shower! Spacious two bedroom and open living space. Lanikai beach is unbelievable! The owners are very accommodating and are amazing hosts! Can't wait to return!

Special place

Love this place, very homey and comfortable, many different little hangout areas. I love that it is kept as a casual beach house, but has all the comforts.

Absolutely Perfect with a Million Dollar View!
Our family of 4 spent 8 nights in this fantastic vacation rental this spring and enjoyed every minute of it. The location of the property is perfect, right on the water with stunning views of the Mokes where we watched the sunrise every morning. Right over the wall at the back of the house you have private access to the water. We rented kayaks in Kailua and kayaked down to the house and kept the kayaks for a few days. The pill box trail was about a 15 minute from the house - we did that hike four separate times since at different times of the day, the views from up there are amazing. The house had everything we could want, we loved that so many areas of the house were outside so we could enjoy the gorgeous Hawaiian weather. And the hammock, was just pure bliss. Kailua has everything you could possible want from shops to restaurants to Whole Foods and Longs Drugs. Lanikai Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Oahu. We have stayed on all the islands and in many locations on Oahu and this is the first time we have said that we would come back to a location, it was just perfect. If you are looking for a peaceful and beautiful house in the best location on Oahu, this is the place for you.
Allie, March 2016

Amazing!
The most well stocked, well thought out home. Could not have asked for anything more unless the owner can control the weather! Truly an amazing property, no disappointment. It took us a day or two to adjust to the long driveway in our large car, but we soon mastered the navigation. Great location, amazing swimming and watch the sunrise each and every morning. We will never forget our vacation and would return gladly.

We have found home in Lanikai
What an amazing place. Our family spent a week in this amazing home. If you are looking for simple and pure island living, this is your place. This is what heaven probably looks like. We had breakfast, dinner and lunch by the water. We swam with the turtles, puffer fish and the famous Humuhumunukunukuapua'a. We paddle boarded to the Mokes right from our backyard, did acrylic paints with the locals and practiced full moon yoga at the beach. Just a few of the activities available. The place has something for everyone. The owner was incredibly friendly and attentive to our needs. The neighbors (both locals) were welcoming. We are definitely coming back here! A happy family from Portland, OR.

Incredible View, Awesome House, Perfect Location!
I was fortunate to be able to stay at this house with my Mother and 2 of her good friends for 2 weeks. I'm their designated driver...it's a dirty job but someone's go to do it! A few years back we stayed in Kailua and discovered Lanikai and we have been hooked ever since! Our family owns a cottage on a tiny island in The Bahamas and we know great beaches and Lanikai is among the BEST! So to be able to stay right there with that gorgeous water and the Mokes as our view was absolutely incredible! The house is extremely well appointed and was very clean. It's amazing how many extras there are: beach chairs, boogie boards, noodles, outdoor furniture, plenty of extra towels (including beach towels) and sheets, everything for the kitchen even a salad spinner! We love to cook and a well stocked kitchen is so greatly appreciated. Do note that there is no dishwasher (not a worry at all for us!).

Lanikai Love
This is by far the best house in Lanikai if you want to wake up to a daily gorgeous sunrise directly in front of the Mokes, walk to Lanikai (and Kailua) beaches, have a great 3 mile walk around the neighborhood loop and just generally relax. The house is stocked with everything you need in the kitchen, there are plenty of places to relax both outside and inside, the neighbors are sweet and the owners are very responsive and nice. The back yard is perfect for relaxing or for dining outside. The outside shower is great for rinsing off after spending hours in the ocean; which we did every single day. The neighborhood is generally quiet and we spent hours at night in the back yard or on walks, staring at the clouds and stars. Whole Foods and other stores are just a 10 minute drive away, and Buzz's Steakhouse is the best place to walk or drive to for lunch. Sit at the bar and order the fish sandwich and a Mai Tai...the best! We will definitely stay there again and look forward to it.

Paradise Out Your Back Door
We loved our week at this house! Wake up to beautiful sunrises over the Mokulua Islands and swim with sea turtles right in front of the house. Lanikai is a wonderful place to stay on Oahu and this house makes it hard to leave. We rented paddle boards and kayaks from a local shop, had them delivered to the house and began and ended each day paddling or swimming to "The Mokes", going to Lanikai beach or over to Kailua beach park and up to Buzz's restaurant. We hiked to Pill Box twice to watch the sunrise. The house has everything you need and we spent most nights barbequing and enjoying the windward breezes and warm evenings. Consider making a stop at the Costco in Hawaii Kai on the drive in from the airport for your provisions for the stay. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cook all your meals if you like. The house is comfortable and clean. We enjoyed relaxing in the hammock and looking at the ocean and the outrigger canoes racing by in the mornings and evenings each day. Lanikai is a great location on the island because it is quiet and peaceful but close enough to Kailua where you can go for restaurants and shopping (we went to the Farmers market on Thursday evening - it was fun). You can also jump on the freeway and go to the North Shore or south to Honolulu easily. We hope to go back again in the near future, Mahalo!

Best Vacation House Ever!!
I have been back on the mainland for a week now and my heart aches when I look at the pictures of our beautiful ocean front house. From the moment you arrive you know you will not want to leave this place. Rent your kayak on the way to the house, pick up some food and beverage and you are set for your stay. Gorgeous white sand beaches, crystal clear water, sea turtles swimming right by your house, snorkeling for hours, kayaking to the islands, PIll box hike right in your neighborhood, Ocean breezes at night. The house had EVERYTHING we needed bath towels, beach towels, washer/dryer, ironing board, wifi, dishes, pots, pans, outdoor shower, grill, boogie boards, hammock, beach chairs, icemaker in fridge...the list goes on and on. The lanai was our living space. We ate, relaxed and hung out there. I would highly recommend this house if you are visiting Oahu.

Location, Location, Location!
We loved our stay--the sunrises, the ocean breezes, the sound of the waves lapping the seawall, snorkeling, fishing, crabbing, kayaking, swimming with the sea turtles or watching them from our Hawaiian backyard, and the moonrises over the Mokuluas. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our stay there--even my redneck son-in-law, who thinks we should make it an annual trip. We also enjoyed eating at Buzz's, Kalapawai Cafe (both locations), Agnes Bakery, Big City Diner and the to die for pancakes & mac sauce at Boots & Kimos. Shave ice at Island Snow was a must after a day at the beach. We will be back

Mahalo, Mahalo, Mahalo!
We came to this place for the wedding of our daughter, sister, and friend. It was perfect that we were all able to stay together in this beautiful house on the water. This excellent setting with the view of the 2 little islands, with the outriggers, kayakers, boaters and swimmers brought back the memories of the beautiful place that brought us all together, Palau, and that made us all family. ... We so enjoyed our early morning swims with the gorgeous sunrises. The colors from the sunsets were amazing. The stargazing incredible. All the neighbors were so kind and friendly. Most of all we enjoyed our daughter's, sisters's and friend's wedding that was a dream come true for us all. We made so may more beautiful memories here to share with one another and friends when we meet again.

"Good people and beautiful atmosphere, pricey neighborhoods lead to great views and tons of amenities in a coastal community. Schools are best in terms of comparison to other parts of the island, and definitely beneficial to parents with kids requiring a proper and well facilitated education. Streets are clean and safe, traffic is low and quiet, and a decent amount of dining options for special nights out. Transit time to neighboring areas is reasonable depending on departure times. Highly recommended if beaches and outdoor life is a value, as it’s home to two of the top beaches in the world. "It’s the ideal Hawaiian beach town with boutiques, grocery stores, and restaurants. There is always something to do. Beach time, farmers markets, and festivals. "

"Dislikes: There are no sidewalks so it’s hard to walk the dog when you’re constantly dodging cars. Lots of speeding cars. No dog park. Likes: lots of dogs in Kailua"
