Wake Forest Middle School has been such a wonderful experience for my family. From day one, we felt welcomed and supported by the staff, teachers, and administration. The communication is strong, the expectations are clear, and you can tell that the school truly cares about the success and well-being of every student.My child has grown academically and socially since attending WFMS. The teachers go above and beyond to make sure students understand the material, offering extra help when needed and encouraging them to do their best. I also appreciate the way the school focuses on both academics and character; it really shows in the way students interact with each other and with staff.The school offers great extracurricular opportunities, and the environment feels safe, structured, and positive. As a parent, it means a lot to see my child excited to go to school and proud of the progress they’re making.I’m grateful for the dedication of the WFMS community, and I highly recommend Wake Forest Middle School to any family looking for a supportive and engaging learning environment.

We have been at Wakefield High School for 3 years now with our oldest and are truly enjoying it! The Wakefield schools are located in the heart of a beautiful and supportive community in north Raleigh. There are numerous rigorous course offerings and more club offerings than you can count. They ranked in the top 4% in the state for student academic growth. The sports programs are solid and often times also top ranking at the district and state level. Overall, very happy with Wakefield High and look forward to the rest of our kids being Wolverines soon!

The current principa is better than the last, but she is leaving this year after only two years. No one knows who will replace her yet. She is ok and the school is ok doing afterschool activities for families a few times a year like Bingo night, reading night, multicultural night (she is big on everything mutlicultural, but teaching the kids to show respect for the actual country they live in not so much...). However this is a sugar coating for the rot within the system below the surface. Too many teachers are missing many work days for personal reasons, and we're not talking about maternity leave or serious illness. They are constantly taking days off to run errands. Substitute teachers only need a pulse and are very unprofessional, even when substituting for extended periods of time. Too many teachers that share their political and personal idealogies with the students. Violence and use of profanities among the students. They have now brought in a new vice principal to try and control them. Math level is bad and way below what I have seen in other parts of the counrtry. They do not encourage socialization during the school day, just following of rules like soldiers especially with the older grades. Then administration does not understand why kids are climbing the walls when they have no outlet for their energy and their natural needs for socialization are not meant. Communication with the school is only good if you want to compliment the school. If you have any concerns about your child they will listen, but not do anything to help them or come up with an actual plan of action. People sell the joke that WCPSS has good schools - anyone who has lived out of NC knows that the public school system in NC is horrible. If you can, get your child into a private school. If you can't afford it you are stuck with such horrible schools. Keep in mind that all the emails, talking point messages and flyers telling you why FPD is so wonderful does not actually make it wonderful in reality. Your kids will be completely under prepared for middle school ... which also are horrible in WCPSS.
