About this House
Zillow limits the amount of description I can post here. For a full description and for a full Photo Gallery visit my Wix website at:

Let me squeeze as much of the text as I can into this little box but then I would recommend cutting and pasting the web address above and getting the full picture at the website.
Location, Location, Location
First let's start with the location of this apartment since location seems to be so important to so many people.
Bus service and metro could not be more convenient. Buses to the Capitol and to downtown sites like the White House and the GW Hospital stop will pick you up just across the street and for the return trip drop you off just a few steps from your apartment You can walk as I do to the Eastern Market Blue Line Metro in 14 minutes and the Blue Line Potomac and Stadium stations are even closer. If you want to get directly to a Red line you can catch the bus across the street or do as I do and simply walk across Lincoln and Stanton Parks right to the Union Station red line Metro.
Needless to say the vibrant social life is only a short distance away.... the outdoor cafes, the restaurants and if you want to hit the bars and wine bistros, you will have no need for a designated driver to take you home.
For grocery shopping you only have to walk down 14th Street to Safeway and just a little further to Harris Teeter or to Eastern Market to the brand new Trader Joes. You can have a car in this neighborhood (parking is pretty easy in this part of the city) but the real fact is you do not need one. Transportation to everywhere is very convenient.
If you do have a car and have to use it a lot in your work, this neighborhood is the best in the city to quickly reach the 395 and 295 highways going south and the Baltimore Washington Parkway going north. Unlike other parts of the city, there is no need to traverse an elaborate gauntlet of streetlights to reach these major arteries.
And yes for you walkers, the Capitol is an easy stroll away and just beyond that the Washington Mall and the finest complex of museums anywhere in the world.
Also keep in mind that Lincoln Park, the largest and oldest park on Capitol Hill, is only a block and a quarter away.
Bright and Sunny
I am running out of characters here so I have to really abbreviate the apartment description.
The apartment is located in a two unit building right on East Capitol Street. My wife and I live downstairs and we rent out the upstairs. Because it is located on the second floor and not in a basement or even a first floor, it is very sunny and bright. The apartment has been newly renovated for the second time.
When you walk up the stairs and enter the very large living room you will see a 100 year old stained glass skylight, a working fireplace with a 100 year old mantelpiece, and an antique Tiffany lamp hanging from the ceiling.
The bathroom, newly renovated, includes shelves and drawers for storage of sheets, towels and all the little sundries that people always need in a bathroom.
The two bedrooms both have ceiling fans and cedar closets (very rare on the Hill) as well as Swedish Elfa stainless steel closet systems.
The newly renovated kitchen is an eat-in kitchen (unusual for the Hill) and to make a point of it we have installed a nice glass table with 4 chairs so you will not have to.
Walk out the kitchen and you have your own private porch with a southside exposure and down below you have a large and quite lovely brick patio and garden which you share with us.
