Golden High has a lot of good teachers here, from what I have experienced so far, they're all respectful and nice to all the kids a like, no matter what. They don't exclude anyone and are supportive of everyone, checking in with some that need it more than others. They really did a good job at making the school feel secure and safe for everyone there, though that's one of the downsides. Despite all the good sides about this school their are an awful amount of bullies and fights/hardships that happen here every year. When we reported someone doing something bad to us and/or others the counsellors did nothing about it, we asked about it a week later and then they'll say they'd do something about it and never did. The teacher's and some of the counselors are not good at taking care of students that are actually causing harm to the others and are instead focusing on the little things like how people are giving others piggyback rides in the cafeteria calling it unsafe for them. With that, some of the staff are... Odd. One of the security guards that are supposed to make us feel safe aren't really doing a good job at that, following students around and even checking their files and going into certain details that they shouldn't. I really do think this school needs to do a better job at handling their staff and the bullying problem. It isn't my number one suggestion for a school but it's not all that bad. I'd give it about a 7/10.

Our experience at Mitchell was defined by two things: fantastic teachers and a deeply concerning administration. The quality of the educators and the friendships my child made are the only reasons we did not leave sooner.Unfortunately, Principal Janelle Nelson Gardner’s leadership has had a damaging effect. She has driven out excellent teachers, and her communication is always evasive and noncommittal.Most troubling was her handling of a severe, prolonged bullying issue. She showed an alarming lack of action and seemed more concerned with protecting the bullies than the students being targeted. It took a unified effort from a group of parents escalating the issue to her supervisor to see any kind of response. This unacceptable stance on student safety is why many families, including ours, have left the school. Her performance is grossly insufficient.For years, Jeffco schools have maintained a reputation for excellence in academics, social environment, and administration. Unfortunately, Mitchell Elementary has deviated from this standard since Janelle's promotion from Vice Principal to Principal. Her tenure has been marked by significant administrative issues and a concerning lack of leadership. Had I been aware of her evasive and ineffective stance on bullying, I would have chosen a different Jeffco elementary school without hesitation.I cannot speak to the Special Education question above as I have no experience. There is not an actual gift and talented program as they state on their site.

It's a great school but it's not always safe and a couple of teacher are kinda mean but it's a good school they also they do a really fun stuff like vacations you have to pay for and out door lab for a week in the mountains for only 20$
