7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGolden High School is really good school for my daughter. You have to put in the work. If the expectation is to be constantly given handouts rather than working for your success, then this school is probably not for you. Academics overall seem pretty solid comparatively at the state level. Probably not at the very top, but in the upper 20% of schools imo. Great selection of honors classes. Nice campus and location.Parent Review11mo ago - Mitchell Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAfter a year at another elementary school, I can truly reflect on the experience. The principal is inadequate and focused on social justice rather than academics. The office staff made me uncomfortable. Essentially the principal doesn’t want parents involved inside the school. I was in a PTA meeting and a parent said they would fund and run the Watch Dogs program- the principal said no. She is more concerned with the equity in the large sense than what is best for the kids at Mitchell. This is a feelings over facts school. They implemented a SEL program called Amazeworks which on the surface looks fine enough but you must go into the school to read the book guidelines-1st grade it suggested that after reading Jacob wears a dress that they make gender neutral bathroom signs to hang around the school and community-1st graders! I felt alone and scared to speak up about how bizarre this school is. While a group of parents formed to try to improve what was happening, our family ultimately decided it wasn’t going to change fast enough for our kids so we left. The new school is worlds different in an amazing way starting from staff communication to the school welcome night. The new school embraces academics and FUN like my kids were allowed to bring candy attached to their Valentines-Mitchell won’t allow candy anytime nor bday treats. No fun in the name of equity! My kids are thriving and my child has mentioned how much more she is learning this year and the school work is actually challenging. Don’t settle as there are incredible schools in Jeffco sadly Mitchell isn’t one of them.Parent Review2mo ago - Manning Options School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school supports all students and helps me as a student with special needs succeed. Many of the negative reviews are from when the school had a different principal. I have had bad experiences with some teachers but most are thoughtful and expect all students. Although this school has some dumb rules and high goals. I have found that they do a lot to help students succeed.Student Review7mo ago - Bell Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI really like this place! It gives me all the help I need! I have a lot of friends and really great teachers! Everybody here accepts me for who I am, and I have nice, long conversations with my friends and teachers, and they compliment how far I've gotten since my 7th grade year, and they have a excellent Special Needs program that has excellent helpers! I recommend going here!Student Review5mo ago - Dennison Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnfortunately All five of my siblings and I had the "opportunity" to go to D'Evelyn. However as many would assume/expect that we were lucky, it was the complete opposite experience. I would never recommend this school to anyone... it is actually HORRIBLE. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you care about your child's education, then do not go to this school. No grades, no real guidance, no discipline, no structure and no motivation geared towards actual education. It does not hold kids accountable, does not teach responsibility and does not set kids up for success.Parent Review2mo ago - Jefferson County Open Secondary

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school only works for a very small number of learners. The quality of teachers is really hit or miss. The ideology behind this learning environment is student lead learning. Unfortunately if you have anything other than an outstanding teacher the student is left to fail academically while shouldering the blame for not being self-directed. A few students thrive, unfortunately many are poorly prepared academically for life after high school. The administration is unwilling or unable to fully accept responsibility for the safety of their students during school hours. Drug use, alcohol consumption, and sex on campus does occur at this secondary school which shares a campus with K-6. Do not accept the hype that the community environment is so great that these students respect the rules. I was recently informed that 1/2 of the class in one of my students electives chooses to regularly not attend that class. No attendance is recorded and they are simply unaccounted for during this time. This did not seem problematic to the teacher at all. I'm unsure how this compares to other schools. I was surprised this type of behavior existed, since the number of students that are enrolled at JCOS is so low, and the advisers claim to be deeply invested. The administration's response is that the students are choosing to break the rules and it is not the schools philosophy to police them. There are very few extra curricular activities offered through the school. There is almost no focus on physical education. PE classes that do exist have almost entirely male enrollment. A holistic approach to education is not embraced here. The exceptional outcome that occasionally occurs at this school is promoted as the norm. Please be aware that it is not.Parent Review5y ago - Check out schools near 1412 Jesse Ln.

"There are not enough dog parks!! Tons of mountain space for my dog to run around but most people are very weird about their dogs and them being off leash. If your dog is well behaved then they should be allowed off leash! More dog parks would help this "

"There are mountain bike trails right down the street and you can bike just about anywhere. Our neighborhood only has one way in and one way out, since it’s tucked behind 70 and 6th ave. It feels safe and secluded, but there’s a ton of highway noise. It also just looks and feels more like Lakewood than Golden. All in all it’s a quick ride into the mountains or city, safe, with beautiful views, kind neighbors, but tons of traffic noise."
