3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI started my son in Montessori & private schools because I thought he would reach his full potential in unconventional settings. However, at both schools his "behavior" was cause for alarm and so I pulled him out before they could kick him out. Enter McCleery. My son was off to a good start but he started to have problems again - long story short, he was eventually diagnosed ADHD and needed a 504 plan. McCleery teachers and staff were patient and willing to work with me through this process. He started second half of 1st grade with Ms. Larson. She was great in helping with his transition to a new school. 2nd grade Ms Volkert - tough but fair. 3rd grade Ms Cofer, an absolute angel to my child. 4th grade Mr Knapp, just the right combination of discipline, structure and compassion my son needed. The principle Ms Esposito is very helpful and always answered my concerns. Ms Ortiz the social worker has been extremely patient with my son and I, working with him to help him develop the necessary skills he needs to be successful. Maybe this school doesn't rank high in testing, but if you want a school that cares about your child as much as you do, this is the school.Parent Review10y ago - Jefferson Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageRacially-motivated bullying was an issue for my student at this institution to the point that I had brought it to administration's attention. Disruptive behavior between classes in the hallways was witnessed by staff, but not addressed. I once picked up my child early from school and watched as students shoved other students, swore loudly, and threw books directly outside the main office while staff never once intervened. We moved within the year with the objective of getting our kids out of that school district and couldn't be happier with that decision.Parent Review4y ago - West Aurora High School

"It was mostly quiet but I honestly did not spend too much time outside my own neighborhood growing up. The area by Washington middle school and San sucy was very nice and the people were nice. Nice nature trail near by and lots of activities for families. I do not currently live in the area any longer and have not for years but as I remembered it, it was lovely and you never had to worry about your kids playing outside since everyone was so friendly and knew each other. Overall the people in the San sucy area were what the neighborhood great. Looked out for each other and always looked out for each other’s pets when they ran from the house."
