About this House

Vintage Charm Accompanies this 1895 Farm House and Barn which is set on 3.2 acres of sub-dividable land. This home offers 3 bedrooms, 1 Full Bath, and Potential for 1/2 bath on 1st floor. The Living Room, Dining Room, and Family Room on the 1st floor have old pine floors waiting to be restored. Pocket doors separate antique spaces. The original front door from 1895 still leads to the front porch overlooking a huge old oak tree and sprawling front yard. Probably the most interesting feature of this old homestead is the barn. Fully functioning with 2 floors of creative space. The age and charm resonate in this space, from the operational sliding doors to the Ringling Brothers Mural used at barn boards and insulation. The 2nd story of this barn has been converted into a craftsman space with ample natural light. This is a very special property looking for a creative new owner to restore it. There is knob and tube wiring and the roof will need replacement sooner rather then later.

"Old town village. Older houses but each with their own yards, friendly environment and mostly well maintained. "
  • Amelia G.
"My commute is short I work in town. My husband drives 1.5+ hours for his job. Not a lot of jobs other than retail or trades in town."
  • Mrmagooct2012
"Easy access to the Highway. Schools nearby. Shopping is close. Very little crime. Friendly neighborhood"
  • Giuffret6
"I know there are lots of positive community resources for families in this town. We have a nice children’s playground. There are many lakes around Athol and surrounding areas. Also leads to camping for some outdoor fun. "
  • Pamela E.
"Its improving quickly with all the new construction.I've noticed a hudge difference just in the past year.So many new jobs available. That gives opportunity and people are improving their lives. So many less people just hanging around midday.Less poverty means less crime.Seem like Athol will be viewed in a much more positive way.I ended up here and hated it.I'm actually able to leave now and don't think I want to."
  • Fonsecakaris
"Athol has ‘Town’ buses for the main roads. If you need a pick-up in the country there is a local small van that will pick you up for $3.00, you need to call the night before and there is always Uber. One really needs personal transportation, as everything is far apart, not walkable."
  • Pamela E.
"Athol seems to have a lot more drug activity at much younger ages.I honestly think they need a Boys and Girls club.Places these kids can go that are free. Its a very low income area and this makes things much harder on teenagers Bowling alley or roller skating rink would be a good start. There are so many vacant buildings."
  • John G.
"It is right downtown Athol near a lot of apartment complex's restaurants, etc. maybe even a good concert hall... "
  • grunt_20002001
"im a retired veteran. i used too live else where in athol. i wasnt getting much for what i paid for. but now i am very happy here with my cat. and the people here are great."
