"my work is right around the corner. come is easy. I know all of the people throughout the community and it feels like home. "

"I have lived here for 15 years, and there is a great mix of original older residents, young families with kids, and everything in between. Most people have dogs too, so very dog friendly, and quiet , peaceful area to live in. Close to Oceanview Beach, Virginia Beach just a little further, the interstate, and HRBT and Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnels. I love it here, and having neighbors who help each other and watch out for each other's well being. "

"This neighborhood is big on holidays especially St Patrick's Day and Halloween. They do celebrate all with decorating. "
  • Bayview-Area
"What so many people don't realize is that this area is only a mile away from the community beach! Also, there's an amazing golf course nearby. The neighbors are amazing and super friendly and generational...they will tell you ANYTHING about the neighborhood because they are likely living in the house that their grandparents owned. Pretty special place."

"Lived here for 11 years. Great mix of young families and older original residents, and great neighborhood for kids and dogs. I also love all the wooded lots which doesn't happen often in newer construction. Close to interstate, HRBT, and Norfolk Navy bases. Easy to get around to any city as well."

"I feel very fortunate to have discovered the gem of Bayview/Forest Park neighborhood in the 23518 area of Norfolk. Being a military family, it was important for us to be close to the Norfolk Base for his commute to work (a short 10 minute drive). At the same time, as a teacher for Norfolk Public schools, I have an intimate understanding of the school district and recognize that many schools in Norfolk leave something to be desired. Fortunately, the schools in this neighborhood, particularly Bayview and Crossroads are some of the best elementary schools in the entire district. I had no problem whatsoever sending my children to Bayview Elementary- and I do not say that lightly. The test scores reflect a high standard of learning and after living in this area, it is evident that the locals value education for their children as well. After living here for 4 years, I have absolutely fallen in love with this pocket of Norfolk. It is an established neighborhood with little transience. People tend to stay here and every last one of my neighbors is absolutely wonderful. I felt very safe and secure walking my dogs day and night. My house sat untouched and under the watchful eyes of my neighbors for extended periods of time when we were out of town. Every visitor we have comments on how quiet the neighborhood is. I truly cannot say enough about this location, it is convenient to shopping and the interstate as well as the Navy base. It's also just a couple minute drive to the bay. What fun we have taking the kids and the dogs to the beach! We love it so much here that we have decided to keep the house even when we are relocated to another base- in hopes that we will again be stationed in Norfolk and have the opportunity to live here again. Ask any of the old timers that live around here and they will tell you what they told me before we purchased our home, "This neighborhood is the best kept secret in all of Norfolk!" How true that is!"
