All my children have gone to Hillsboro, and the ones in college now were more than prepared to thrive in college. My kids' teachers have gone above and beyond, and the student body is diverse, interesting, and welcoming. The school has so many ways that kids can connect and get involved. Room for improvement in how admin engages parents and families - the principal needs to be more accessible. I have found teachers and assistant principals to be very accessible and helpful.

I remember going to this school, and it was 'okay'. Thought some of the staffs were not respectful and were strict, but i haven't really seen other students get support on this journey, they were just, yelled at. Now my sister, doesn't have enough nutrition to keep awake so most of what my sister needs to do is to push her body to the absolute limits just to go to school. Yet the principal and teachers don't treat my sister with respect. They would fear monger, or even straight up threaten us if my sister doesn't go to school.(Not that skipping school is great its just that my sister doesn't get the nutritional, emotional and mental support from her teachers or pears.)The school food was okay, the students around me was amazing, and there were holidays that i enjoyed while i was in this school. But i can't support the fact that staff or teachers would treat students with disrespect. (Teachers need support to, they don't get paid enough there overworked and they don't get enough time, but i want my sister to get support from my teachers.)Would i recommend this school?Mabey not, you can come here for the holidays or slight freind making, but overall not a great school.

This school is has amazing opportunities for classroom-based and extra-curricular activities. Admin knows every student. Teachers host International Baccalaureate advanced classes that lead to early high school credit, weekly STEM learning partnerships on Vanderbilt's campus, and college and career prep. Parents and faculty are dedicated to supporting all students with the PTO raising funds that help every child access major 3-day field trips, band and sports equipment. Their multimedia club provides professional programming, video tech, photography,and drone experience. The band director has created a program that lifts non-musicians to "superior" ratings at regional competitions. I could go on... Our daughter qualified for the academic magnet schools and chose WEMS. We are so grateful to have her there!
