"just moved in a week ago, but the neighbors we've met so far have been very friendly, really can't give a true opinion about the community as a whole just yet "
  • Dblockmon124

"This area is a great family friendly area with nice home on good acreage. The homes are close to the schools, churches and shopping. They have their own fire department in the area thus making this insurance cheaper."
  • Wmpc2580
"Love Marion. Needs some improvements. Could use bike and walking trails. Need more public park areas for families. Could use better shopping and restaurants. Would like to see more community involvement...maybe neighborhood watch, community clean up days, adopt highways for clean up, etc."

"If you are considering living in the Memphis metro area, Marion is THE place to raise a family. I hate that we must move for my job. Its quiet, convenient, and safe. Crime is non existant. You are 15 minutes from Downtown and you wouldnt know it with contrast in lifestyle. Most of the people who i know downtown come to marion to do thier shopping. Great thing is you get Marion Public Schools which are so fay ahead of the pack in the midsouth education systems. Especially the chatic Memphis School System. Or now shelby county overseen Forfieted Memphis school district. Its a great place to raise a family and it does not have the stigma of West Memphis. "
  • Dag00001
"The neighborhood has no sidewalks, few nearby parks and is located on the very fringe of town adjacent (maybe 200 yards) to a very impoverished area (Sunset, AR). Marion has transitioned to a bedroom community for Memphis, TN and local traffic has become much more congested and heavy due to increasing highway and rail traffic. The public schools are notable as probably the best in the metro Memphis area, but the system has had to absorb 2 poor, rural school districts recently which has pressured class size and overall student performance. The town is located along the 1-55 corridor and it's US 64 junction. Add recent construction of 2 intermodal rail facilities nearby and the traffic load has overwhelmed the arterial roads throughout town. Being adjacent to such a concentration of diesel exhaust might be a significant concern to people with respiratory illness. The town is located very near downtown Memphis, TN, but the majority of Memphis commercial and cultural attractions have relocated well away from downtown- making a major mall or theater easily a 50 mile round trip. The adjacent town- West Memphis- has little to offer beyond Wal-Mart and the standard fast food joints. If you are looking for a community with rich cultural, recreational and shopping opportunities nearby there are much better choices in metro Memphis. Marion is basically a white-flight relatively low-cost bedroom community."
