Being new to the school/ neighborhood (Temporarily ONLY) displaced due to the pandemic & it’s devastation which caused us to lose several members of our family along with cancer. The financial hit was one thing but we know we can recover from..The after affects of C19 are what we’re focused on which includes what is called Covid brain (brain fog & more) to 16 lung nodules for the foreseeable future which must be checked annually all while newly discovering one of my children has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease & uveitis (injection for the for seeable future) all of this on top of being an asthmatic family. Throughout all of this we never complain or like to speak on what we’re going through for others are going through if not worse then what we are experiencing/experienced. God strengthens us & always has! Initially the school’s welcome was lukewarm (to say the least) My child’s teacher would wave & smile with a warm greeting (all of that would soon change & all I can do is pray for her that’s how I was raised). Unfortunately, the office staff showed no signs of emotion, compassion or empathy..so condescending, dismissive with rude undertones. This does not speak to the sentiment all of the teachers & staff at this school however, over time the energy changed that’s only because leadership always sets the standard & the tone while some may have a mind of their own & don’t allow their character, morals or beliefs to be swayed by others in any way, shape or form I can’t say that for all. Some are still able to execute professionalism (without judgement) with full confidence, conviction & compassion while making a positive impact in their student’s lives. I speak from not only a parent, caregiver (former) teacher perspective but as a human being who leads with not only my experience & education (no one knows it all) for I’m teachable & do my job with love, compassion, understanding & most of RESPECT for ALL I encounter. Negativity doesn’t live nor festers within me. I have an issue I address it the way I feel others would want to be treated that’s it that all! Kindness goes a long way for you never know one’s story & if I can be a light in someone’s life I did my job as a human being in the world. I just pray that this school receive the retraining that’s needed to be able to make a difference in the next family that may be going through a transition whatever that may look like because none of us are perfect.
