6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI recently graduated from Choctawhatchee High School and all I can say is that it was bad. For all four years of my high school career, the A/C was constantly broken, and when “fixed”, 75% of the time it’d break down again within the next day or two. The school is severely overpacked and nobody does anything about it. Within my last two years there, it just got more and more cramped, and now according to a few friends I have still at Choctaw, the hallways will be at complete standstills for at least two minutes due to how many students there are. The guidance counselors were either never available, looked at you like you had ten heads, or acted like you were heavily inconveniencing them with whatever you had to talk about. I was trying to get my transcripts from the school a few months ago so I could enroll in college classes and the guidance office just laughed, went “well that sucks”, and hung up. The front office ladies? Forget about it. They literally have the simplest job in the school and yet they still don’t know how to do it. They’ll also constantly be extremely crabby, as if someone came in and ruined their whole week. They barely help the teachers (if even at all) and they only care about you if you’re the football team, the cheer team, the Indianettes, or the Stylemarchers. If you’re not any of those? They could genuinely care less about you. I, 100%, would have transferred to FWBHS if it wasn’t for the fact that I was a Stylemarcher. They also do not care one bit about your mental health and the only guidance/office person that cared is no longer there. They have never been open to parent-conferences unless your child has done something wrong. All in all, I can confidently say that the only things that were good about that school was the band and a handful of teachers. In conclusion, if you’re a parent reading this and are able to send your child to a different school, please do. Because Choctaw has become/is a very bad school and I wouldn’t even wish the torment of going there onto my worst enemies.Other Review1y ago - Kenwood Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers do not communicate with the parents. My child has been going here since kindergarten and the communication has gotten progressively worse with each teacher. Now that my child is in 3rd grade and about to take the FSA, we have been having problems with test anxiety and continued lack of communication. I have told the teachers, principal, assistant principal and guidance counselor that they need to communicate with me to alleviate the anxiety my child is having and they refuse to work with me. I am willing to help and deal with my child and they have not complied with my requests. They are even making it difficult to get an IEP - it seems no one knows the steps to take to even start the process. Luckily, my child has been accepted into a different school next year, so hopefully this issue will be solved. I would not recommend this school if your child has anxiety or if you would like the teachers to communicate with you.Other Review3y ago - Northwest Florida Ballet Academie

"Dogs are welcomed by most except landlords. A large percentage of the population owns pets and no one wants pets in the home they are renting. We wonder why there’s a high number of strays and animals in the pound."

"This is a nice quiet area that is 10 minutes from Hurlburt Air Field and 15 minutes to Eglin AFB. We are also five minutes from the hospital and other medical facilities in Fort Walton Beach with easy access to all shopping and restaurants while only 20 minutes to the beach!"

"SAMs club Lowe’s and Walmart are within walking distance. Senior high school and midd;e school is walking distance as well as the elementary school. We are located between Eglin AFB and Hurlburt AFB. 7 miles from the beaches. The airport is about 5 miles away. Hospitals are about 3 miles. The neighborhood is safe and the people are friendly and speak to each other. Everyone keeps there lawn groomed and there are no junk cars in front of houses. People clean up behind their dogs. It’s a good neighborhood. A car is needed to get around, everything is spread out. "
