7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI write this review years later, not for sympathy, but as a necessary record of a profound institutional failure. As a 15-year-old student, I experienced a complete nightmare in this school's care. After purchasing lunch, the cafeteria manager confiscated my food and called security because she suspected the cash I used—given to me by my father—was counterfeit. She had checked it with a permanent marker. What followed was a multi-hour ordeal. I was detained and questioned by police for over two hours. No one called my parents. The police implied and school security implied that my father was a counterfeiter. I was a terrified child, crying and unable to understand what was happening. The resolution was as absurd as the accusation was cruel. After more than two hours, someone realized the manager had used a standard permanent marker, not a counterfeit-detection pen. The police abruptly left. There was no apology, only the chilling realization that the entire system—the school staff, security, and police—had collectively failed to exercise a single ounce of reason, compassion, or due process. They took food from a child, accused my family of a felony, and subjected me to a traumatic interrogation without parental consent. This was more than a mistake; it was a violation of my basic rights and a testament to how easily prejudice can override protocol and humanity.I share this as a stark warning. This institution demonstrated it was capable of traumatizing a child over a simple misunderstanding. No student should ever feel this unsafe.Other Review8mo ago4 Reviews - Lakeside Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSchool cares more about dress code and grades than student wellbeing the teachers are favoriting girls and the lunches are bad with hard breads and rubbery cheese the water fountains dispense murky metal tasting water and to get good cold water you have to pay. The principal is rude. Students get bullied constantly. they will take you’re belongings (phone clothes) and refuse to give them back. very few good teachers and you will be punished for absences even if they are excused and are important.Student Review7mo ago11 Reviews - William W. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son with ADHD and 504 plan just graduated WO. He was there 6 years. The staff, teachers and students all knew my son. Despite his rough reputation the teachers and principle supported him and trying to make him a better citizen. Instead of focusing on just discipline they also focus on how to make the situation better for all involved. Most teachers were patient with my son and went above and beyond to support his success. Safety is a priority and they take it very seriously. My daughter is now attending and I know it's going to be a smooth next few years. The school always took my concerns serious and made an attempt to resolve any issues I had. I'm grateful for the staff here more specifically the Principle.Parent Review6y ago9 Reviews - Check out schools near 11631 Gem St.

"A lot of people do not pick up their dog poop when they are walking their dogs around the area. The parking situation also sucks so make sure you have your own designated parking area in your apartment "

"Nothing. With all the chain restaurants we are just like every other city. There is not much in the way of history anymore. The current city council wants big business, not small family owned and run business "

"We have different types of events in the parks where parents can take their kids or they can walk to use the basketball courts, swim and bbq. The city has a a lot of free events for the people could attend such as city hall events, Carnival and bands etc. you have store and Resturant at walking or close distance. At one time had cows but still you can see horses since many homes have horse homes. People are friendly and welcoming in the area. I have lived in Norwalk since the 80’s and still feel safe. There are shopping center, theaters, nail and hair shops etc. at one time we closed the street for the 4th of July and enjoyed each other potluck in the front of the house. After majority of people died or felt the younger family do other things. "
