I feel like this school has a lot of personality to them. However, there's a lot of fights and harassment happening during the school days. Whenever I go to school, I have to look behind me just in case I won't get jumped. The teachers here are new-school and they can understand slang from our generation. During fights, the assistant principals don't do anything to prevent or stop it. The main principal isn't even here for majority of the school year. This school isn't that bad, but I wouldn't recommend it.

After exhaustive emails, calls, visits, conferences, and escalations to the principal and district, they now only communicate in group panels, mirroring my child's sense of overwhelm and the school's low performance. Spence Elementary has a clean, colorful campus where staff and students appear pleasant, at first glance. Despite A level goals to improve from an F to current C rating, the systems and behaviors remain inconsistent.The registrar stands out as efficient and professional, making enrollment smooth. Although the school nurse is kind and professional, there was recent nurse change that caused medication storage issues, where my child's urgent meds (already provided at enrollment) were misplaced until we located them together. Although the medication was located, I would check in on any medication stored on campus quarterly.In my opinion the biggest concerns are with staff and faculty. Newer teachers (over half with 1-5 years experience) struggle with classroom management and parent communication. My child was hit by an unruly peer when a teacher left the room unattended. Co-teachers create confusing "tag-team" meetings where they interrupt each other; I had to ask them to speak one at a time. Dismissal problems persist: kids held late without notice, and once staff left for the day, forgetting my waiting child, a total catastrophe.Staff student interactions raised red flags too, a staff member mocked my son's Reebok shoes ("you wear Reebok, we wear Nike"), upsetting our family enough that we bought Nikes. Concerns about clothes/shoes go to Mom, not child. No PTO leaves parents feeling talked at, excluded, and out of the loop. Needless to say my child will NOT be returning to Spence Elementary School or Aldine ISD school district. Parents must stay hyper vigilant: DM teachers directly via their preferred platform, document everything daily, debrief your child, and expect little from inexperienced staff. School drop off doesn't guarantee safety, constant oversight is essential.

As a former student from this davis ninth grade school I would like to share the experience with parents in this website as I myself like reading websites and this sort of stuff on the internet.My experience personally would be like okay as I have managed to pass my classes and sometimes due to my own research in the subjects learned at school.There has been fights in this school gossip and drama(there's even a sleeping page on instagram for this school) some teachers do teach and others are almost all the time absent,during covid a sub had to sub more than one classes from the scarcity of teachers(some where sick and the others I dont really know) there's many kids you can meet personally-there's no shame in race or culture in here you are very welcomed including if you are in need of special education although there's times some do face bullying.( if you are in need of special education I do recommend doubting this school as there has been times kids vape and smoke in the restroom although it has been greatly improved by the staff members and cleaning staff) building a great relationships with teachers is quite helpful because if you are in the hallways without a pass half the time they grab you and just send you to detention WITHOUT KNOWING who you are and what you where up to even if you where sent by a teacher without a pass and now that you dont come back they suspect you have been skipping rather than you getting caught by a teacher that now doesnt believe a word you say( they really have trust issues)positive side of this is that you get davis bucks and there's a raffle where depending on how many you have you can buy from chips to passes for extra credit, drop a low grade, and even sometimes depending on social groups you are a chat where y'all can help each other on homework (this is what a call integrity and teamwork)

This is my second year at Davis and I will say is not as bad as people portray this school to be. The main issue of the school is most definitely the students they are more worried about others than themselves and getting their work done and get distracted by drama at the school, I will say tho the staff/faculty has stepped up their efforts on disciplinary actions towards the students and actually seem to care more than they did last year but most of the time it doesn’t last long and they go back to the same bad habits . Overall, I would not recommend Davis to anyone unless you are interested in sports or any CTE program the school has to offer.
