Description

This spectacular home designed by Matt Voelkel is nestled on Oleander Ct. in one of the newer phases of the neighborhood and backs to 40’ of protected greenspace. The entire home exudes Matt’s signature transitional design features of dramatic and angular exterior surfaces, large picture windows, vaulted ceilings, soft white walls complimented with a splash of bold color, extensive yet elegant mill work, luxurious bathrooms, and of course, interesting spaces throughout the home that feel both private and connected to the beat of the home at the same time.

The dramatic foyer is flanked by an open dining room or sitting room to the left and massive double-doors that open to the 4th bedroom or home office to the right. The foyer flows into the center hall that features a smartly placed butler’s pantry with an ice maker and wine cooler. Just beyond is the kitchen that features Thermador appliances, a large island, walk-in pantry, gorgeous natural stone counters, opens to the comfortable living room and has views of the resort-style backyard patio, outdoor kitchen and swimming pool. There is a custom wine storage nook, coffee station and mudroom as well.

The private master suite was designed as its own wing of the house. It offers floor-to-ceiling window views of the backyard through the automated window blinds, two walk-in closets and a marble bath with two vanities and more large windows. The second floor features a spacious living or hang-out room and two ensuite bedrooms.

The backyard oasis is anchored by a custom swimming pool with a hot tub and two sun shelves, a covered patio with an automated screen, an outdoor kitchen, plenty of deck space and the lush greenery of the 40’ greenspace.

All bedrooms have ensuite baths, the 4th bedroom / home office, master bedroom, and covered patio have automated window shades and the house is fully automated via Control 4. The house is supported by a 32 kw whole-house generator, an irrigation and French drain system, an EV charging station and a two-vehicle garage. The Sanctuary is an environmentally planned community only minutes from The Causeway Bridge and home to miles of nature trails, a Health & Activity Center, fitness center, tournament-size swimming pool, three tennis courts, a ball field, and an active homeowner’s association. • Janette Lorenzo
"I do not commute daily. However there is no public transport and no safe spaces to walk or bike to commute. Finding medical care is difficult unless you have access to top insurance plans. Public transportation is voted down to keep out those that do not have cars."
  • Scott
"There are no sidewalks. At all. Anywhere. You have to walk your dog in the street, with all these people driving their bro-dozers that can’t see what’s happening right in front of their vehicles. "
  • Liz D
"The area is very family friendly. The schools are great and there are lots of kids in the area. There are parks, a couple of state parks and lots of things to do with kids."
  • Brittney Collins
"Mandeville is growing but it’s always been a nice area to raise a family. The schools are good and it’s very quiet. "
  • Cindy
"There are lots of activities for people to attend or participate in; something for everyone. They post about upcoming events on social media so people can be aware. "
  • Emily Johns
"I’ve lived here for years and so have my neighbors. New neighbors who move here are welcomed and easily fall in love with the neighborhood. "
  • Kamala G.
"I’ve visited this neighborhood on and off for four years. It had lovely historic areas as well as newer subdivisions. Some restaurants are world class. It’s a nice distance from New Orleans but just close enough to it for a fun night on the town. It has excellent public schools."
  • Sealsie S.
"I drive across the lake to get to work. There is very little traffic and the causeway is very well maintained. I receive text and email alerts about construction, accidents and other possible delays. "
  • Pamela R.
"Lots of beautiful spaces to hang out with family and have crawfish boils or other outdoor events. Great school system. "
  • Jlkirch
"There are a ton of dogs walked in the neighborhood. Manybpeoplengontonthe dog parks as well as walk on the lakefront"
  • Jenn S.
"People here in Mandeville WILL give anyone with a pit bull, pit bull mix and breeds like the American Bully, a nasty look and/or comment. Be prepared but other than that, it’s fine having dogs here. Great dog park here in Mandeville too!"
  • Janramsey
"Lots of friendly pets and Neighbors walking dogs. Help from neighbors if pets are lost. Lots f vets in the area"
  • Bing F.
"Pool party, Easter eggs hunting for kids. Swimming pool is good exercise place. Nice and quiet neighborhood."
  • Monique0129
"Mandeville is a family friendly community. There is plenty to see and do, whether you enjoy outdoor activities, sports or shopping. There’s something for everyone. "
  • Bing F.
"I have been lived here for 10 years. It is quite and friendly neighborhood . The nature park is not far from neighborhood. We walk in the wood , listen birds chipping , breath fresh air. "
  • Dbnavarro5
"we have great schools, locally owned shops and restaurants. great outdoor family events, weekly farmer's markets, and many parks and safe places for families. "
  • Curiousgeorge58
"There are many loose dogs that may excite your dog and cause them to run off into the wilderness. Other than that it is a safe neighborhood for a well behaved dog"
  • Andre L.
"Great Schools to attend. There is not necessarily a need to send our kids to private schools to receive a good education ."
  • Patrick C.
"My neighborhood is very close to the interstate so it is easy to hop on and go East or west. Less the 10 minutes from the causeway in order to go to New Orleans."
  • Curiousgeorge58
"Not ideal. Causeway bridge for commute gets old after 10+ years of doing it 5 days per week. If you’re and 8-5, traffic is slow towards Jefferson Hwy."
  • Chet M.
"friendly family neighborhood where children and dogs play in the street safely. no through traffic. "
  • Brandon
"Great for families if you don’t want to be anywhere near anything interesting or fun. My neighborhood is mostly retired people and families with small children."
  • Brandon
"The commute to New Orleans is long and tedious. Traffic, construction and drawbridge activity hinder flowing traffic. If commuting to the south shore I suggest moving to the south shore."
  • Lizsekelsky
"Like that most people have dogs and are dog lovers. Not like that people really do pay attention to whether you clean up after your pup. May also not like that pups are not welcome in the common areas."
  • Leigh A. L.
"i’ve lived here 30 years! i love our community and am now raising two sons here. i hope to have grandchildren here someday! "
  • Andre L.
" Mandeville has very good public schools as well as private schools. And also the parks and recreation infrastructure is sufficient and well maintained"
  • Erikalucasdavis
"My street in Mandeville is filled with AMAZING neighbors! It is safe for my family to walk and run in. "
  • Lisa T.
"People here always walk their dogs and they always are on a leash and are well controlled. For the most part owners pick up after the dogs and are quite friendly. "
  • Dee W
"I am a new home owner and I love the area. It is quite and I enjoy watching a little HS Baseball some evenings after work- from my front yard. I have o ly met one of my neighbors but she is amazingly sweet. I love it"
  • Jrescalante61
"Recently moved to the neighborhood, but have met & had conversations with residents in the area along with offers of help on multiple levels. Quiet. convenient & beautifully kept subdivision. "
  • Mimihandguidry
"Walking path, neighborhood crawfish boils, Halloween parties, Christmas Eve Luminaria display and so close to Whole Foods, Neighborhood Walmart, shopping and the Causeway. "
  • Matt M.

  • Christopher M. B.
"Great community will a tight nit family atmosphere. People look after one another and you feel safe. "
  • Cdegolyer
"Crimes low, high taxes, lots of spots complexes. If you can’t find it here just drive 30min over the lake. "
  • Tessfly
"Family friendly neighborhood... There are plenty of kids & pets so every day there is somebody(s) & pets out & about. Plenty of Fireworks for the 4th Of July, new year’s and a football game or so. During the fall/ winter holidays, there are plenty of parties Halloween is very busy and almost every house is lit up for Christmas & New Year’s. Family Friendly!"
