Rancho Santa Margarita Intermediate does a wonderful job transitioning the students from Elementary to High School. I have had 2 students completing their 7th and 8th grade in RSM Intermediate and my 3rd student incoming for the next school year. I recommend this school. The staff and Principal are great. The school is clean and secure. They have grown academically and socially. The variety of Electives is great and so is the options for core subjects to do them as regular or honors. Plenty of flexibility for each student to find what suits them better for their learning style. There is an assigned school counselor for 7th grade and one for 8th grade. They are amazing and caring and will work with the families for any concerns (socially, mental health or academic) that may arise during the years at RSM Intermediate.I recommend this school.

my experience at this school has been awful, people treat everyone like trash and nobody gets disciplined for it. some of the teachers even yell and insult the students. the students are horrible to each other and make me wonder if they’ve ever been disciplined or if they even have parents to teach them proper behavior at all. most of the students literally harass others during class, and the teachers don’t even care/notice it. people are literally racist, and this school supposedly promotes kindness?? we have substitutes all the time and most of the teachers can’t even teach correctly, or their worksheets have a ton of errors. insane and so embarrassing.

There were some things that could have been handled better at the beginning of the year based on our experience, but after further collaboration at my request, things have been going much more smoothly. I do notice that some parents tend to jump the gun and make judgments instead of talking things out and understanding that these are literally 3–4-year-olds learning self-regulation and social skills in TK. Open communication, patience, and understanding make a big difference, and when parents and teachers collaborate, the school experience improves for everyone. Kids will be kids, especially at this age, and as long as progress is being made, parents need to give situations time before getting frustrated.That said, the school could improve its process for handling high energy kids and ensure staff have the skills needed to redirect situations appropriately. It felt a bit odd to have to help create a plan for basic child development strategies, and I think parents who don’t strongly advocate may find themselves dissatisfied if issues arise in class. I’m not sure if this is typical in schools nowadays, but collaboration and proactive problem-solving are key. Other than this the principal is very nice and completely understood my child’s personality and the teacher is very open to new strategies and good communication.
