Most teachers are pretty awesome. Mostly the male ones are the best, but of course there are variations. There are some very stingy and outright low quality teachers though, some that not only don’t teach, but then give massive busy work on the topics they didn’t instruct. The sports area is also quite buns… the flagship is football of course, yet the team is usually pretty horrendous. Staff (principles+administrators) are also bad….their sensitivity to non-issues is quite interesting as they cancel the most important time of the days (half time), where students can have a break + go to clubs or get tutored, over slight rain or cold temperatures. Seriously what are we thinking there. All in all, its not a terrible school, and the only thing saving it are a select few teachers and the opportunities for driven students.

bad as the administration is making there own rules up different then what is to district and they are behind other schools in the district as other kids in the district have there laptops and are using them in the classes but this school refuses to let the kids use them because they don't have the cases on the laptops even though the district has gotten extra insurances from the company providing the laptops that if anything happens to them until the covers are in that they will replace them. This school and the policies it dictates to the parents and to the children are coming from the SIC and the PTO of the school and unless you are on the board of either of these too then your voice means nothing at this school.

We have had a great time watching our kids grow at Riverbank Elementary since 4K - our oldest just finished 5th grade and is moving on to middle school. Our daughter is starting 3rd grade. Both were welcomed into the Launch program. The teachers have been so attentive, guidance is AMAZING. They've had several opportunities to be involved with their community through Riverbank - Community Math Nights, Drum Club, Chorus, District Fine Arts performances, Run Hard run team, Beyond Goals soccer team. My son loved finally becoming old enough to take on 5th Grade STAR Jobs - learning buddy, library helper, Morning News Anchor, Safety Patrol, etc. Their immersion program is flourishing - so neat to see children that age embrace bilingualism. Riverbank has an active PTO that recently funded gaga ball pits, new headphones for computer labs, lego sets, extra art materials, new PE and recess equipment. We love being at Riverbank and appreciate the extra resources/staffing that federal funding provides. #WeAreLex2
