Special Education program is seriously lacking. Teachers, staff, principals don’t all understand how to work with children with autism/ADHD and can cause harm.School does not provide gifted programming for twice exceptional students. Students with IQs high enough for MENSA are not considered gifted enough for their STREAM program. Math program in high school is seriously lacking. Teachers are not engaging and are ineffective in teaching advanced subjects like AP Precalc. School does NOTHING to teach students about the importance of reaching out to less socially adept peers. Neurodivergent students are shunned and ignored. Their peers are not taught compassion for those with learning differences. This school ignores the successes of students in national clubs and won’t fund busses for regional competitions. But, they will go above and beyond for their athletes. This school needs to reward their geeky, high performing students for all of their hard work instead of ignoring their achievements. The favor given to their athletics program is unfair. Their guidance counselors are expected to support far too many students and end up providing next to little guidance for college bound students. Overall, this school sends the message that they do not expect their students to attend elite colleges and universities. The majority of students go to WSU, WWU, CWU and Boise State. Very few attend Ivy League or highly competitive colleges and universities.

North Bend elementary is an outstanding school. My children adore their teachers and all the after-school extracurriculars offered at the school (pre-Covid, but we'll get back there), such as art, guitar, yoga, etc., have been such a bonus to their education. My children do well and when they don't, I am notified, right away. I am so grateful for the open and constant communication. The principal, Stephanie Shepard and all staff are stellar educators and caregivers.The Covid virus was a little bit of a challenge but the school is part of a district that has chosen the children's education first and have incrementally allowed the children back in (as of 2021).I am so grateful to have my children in the SVSD. I am from a big city where the schools were terrible so I was always enrolled in a very expensive private schools. To live in such a caring community and have have my children attend great schools that our property taxes help fund is just an unmatched gift.

As a student, this school has been a very pleasant experience for me, and my friends. The schools sport programs are fun and interactive and some of the teachers teach and hep is very well. (Yes I did just say SOME) Although there are some teachers that are very good I would say that there are most definitely some teachers to stay away from. (The schools pizza could be better though)
