"Summer Fest at Ft. Steilacoom park, also the Summer Time Farmerโ€™s Market at the same parkโ€ฆitโ€™s great!"
    • Trulia User
"Not kid friendly and be prepared for anything including your cars and where you park them. Police donโ€™t come as quick as they can, thereโ€™s barely security cars patrolling the area, apartment complexes are not as posted if you were to look to rent around here. ALWAYS look at reviews and what people say about the area you are trying to move to."
    • Trulia User
"My neighborhood is very nice, good neighbors next door and upstairs, it's less than 5 minutes walk a bus stop for public transits, quiet place"
    • Trulia User
"it's a pretty safe neighborhood. not too much to worry about. some shady people hang around the Safeway but they mostly keep to themselves"

    • Trulia User

    • Trulia User
"dog are always walked here and they are cleaned up after. Lots of houses have fenced yards and large back yards"
    • Trulia User
"People constantly walk their dogs in this area. Drivers are considerate f people and dogs walking. Wish there was more sidewalks but the city is working on it. "
    • Trulia User
"Very Dog friendly, very quiet for the more nervous pets, fast traffic so i would keep mine on the leash. "
    • Trulia User
"Iโ€™m new in town, staying in Airbnb here. Decent during the day. I donโ€™t go out at night. Iโ€™ve heard gunshots I think? Has everything nearby. "
    • Melina D.
"Nicer part of lakewood. Borders steilacoom and easy accessory Pierce college. Waughop lake is a nice mile lake connected to a park"
    • Melina D.
"A lot of nature around this neighborhood and a couple nice parks. Waughop lake is nice for walking your dog. Only downside is that there arenโ€™t many sidewalks"
    • Melina D.
"Dog friendly neighborhood. There are a few nice parks and Waughop lake is nice for dog walking. Only annoying thing is that some areas donโ€™t really have sidewalks"
    • Sean.hutton
"The area is super nice, very little issues go on here. Everything is just down the street at the Lakewood Town Center! Something for everyone!!! Only 10 minutes from American Lake!!!"
    • Genifer H.
"Itโ€™s a neighborhood filled with retirement folks. Thereโ€™s a nearby golf course. Thereโ€™s not a lot of children in the neighborhood that Iโ€™ve seen but there are some very close schools that arenโ€™t too bad. "
    • Damon M.
"its a fairly ok place to live public transportation available and easy access to I-5. American lake walking is in walking distance from the freeway and very busy in the summertime"
    • Kennedy W.
"I don't know. I barely see anybody walking their dogs. people barely have they kids outside. this place ain't really that great "
    • Kate C.
"it's not too crowded. people are mostly friendly. these neighborhoods haven't become so over populated like some of the surrounding areas. It's pretty quiet out here for the most part. There are plenty of things to do around here. "
    • Catherine T.
"Older homes and classic neighborhood feel. It isnโ€™t great with public transit access or with pedestrians."
    • Katherine M. M.
"Close to Lakewood and steilacoom amenities. Nicer homes. Neighbors are quiet. Yards are fairly kept up. "
    • Catherine T.
"There arenโ€™t sidewalks for kids to walk safely on the sides of the roads so its good to implement a sense of alertness (although most drivers are very cautious and drive below the speed limit)"
    • Blessing P.
"Close to family, stores and school. Some areas are quiet and some are not. But the area Iโ€™m in is quiet and my neighbors are ok. Whenever I need to get coffee thereโ€™s a coffee shop on the way to school and work. American Lake is close by as well so I am able to take my nephews and nieces to swim and bbq. "
    • Catherine T.
"All by personal vehicle although Iโ€™d prefer public transit; itโ€™s just too far of a walk for a limited route. A bit far from the freeway so if you donโ€™t work nearby, plan to add about 10-15 min just getting to I-5"
    • Kate.mcdonough70
"Ok amenities. Neighborhood seems to be let go by homeowners. No pride of ownership and quite a few renters I imagine. "
    • Cheri1786
"We havenโ€™t lived here long enough to have seen a lot of community events but the neighbors are all very nice and look out for each other. The streets are relatively quiet and, although we do have the occasional speeder, there usually is not much traffic with lots of sidewalks."
    • Amber R.
"great area to live and travel through. we have been here a year now and love the quiet area and parks near by. "
    • Munchplay X.
"High traffic during school hours but easy to get through other wise. Area isnโ€™t bad at all to be honest and itโ€™s very pretty during the summer time. The best parks are all on the school grounds but there are city park few in between. Honestly love it over here."
    • Lyn Tan
"Safe place to live... have not heard of any incidents of burglary. Quiet neighborhood. We are close to grocery stores, restaurants, mall, schools, hospitals. Everything in very accessible. "
    • Cheri1786
"My commute is like everyone elseโ€™s in the JBLM corridor. If not for the construction, the commute to the downtown area is easy."
    • James H. J.
"the schools are close and it's a military area so it is very safe. housing is a joke tho. Golf course is nice."
    • Inas K.
"There is a lot of family there the area is close to police station the store very closed you have everything you need."
    • Iris P.
"Nice, quiet, and beautiful. Having the community college down the street makes it helpful to engage with the community. Thereโ€™s alway something going on. There are plenty of churches for volunteer work. Churches also provide many community events during holidays. Overall, the community is supportive and they keep to themselves. "
    • Jennifer E.
"Many areas to dog walk, including Fort Steilacoom Park and the areas around Lake Louise. Neighborhood is very dog friendly."
