My kids went through this school. They loved all of their teachers! I was so impressed that a lot of the teachers were alumni or lived in the area and chose Wood as their second home. My children still want to go back to visit their beloved teachers, that instilled a love of learning. Wood will always hold a warm place in our hearts. This school is a hidden gem!

Airport High School is really what you make of it. Make sure your student stays in the highest level of classes possible and they will be good. There are not major differences between the coursework, but there is a huge difference in the quality of the classroom. The lower level classes are filled with students that don't care about being there, being quiet or behaving, making it impossible for the students that do care to learn anything. The higher level courses, the students are well behaved and carry on insightful class conversations and make it a wonderful learning environment. I've found that majority of the teachers like the school and care about their students. Safety is not a major issue in this school- never felt threatened or saw any physical violence between students. There is a high emphasis on sports at the school and between the two high schools in Lexington II, Airport Football usually performs much better than Brookland-Cayce, and draws more attention.

The whole chain in broken. My daughter has been at this school since August bc of zoning. They amount of bullying my daughter has endured. Is insane. They don't document any incidents. The teachers are instigators. I have reported different events many times for my concerned to be taken in and ignored. I recently met w the principal and resource officer and still have yet to hear back from Dr Holloman. I don't expect anything less. The beginning of the year open house she decided to tell us our kids were liars and to believe half of what they say. This is the principals thoughts. I am currently working very hard after the death of my husband, their dad. To move into a zone where thisnisnt her school. It's hard to make your kid get up and go somewhere they feel they are being abused! But the law says she has to attend 180 w no one to make her feel safe. Shout out to Ms Williams and Ms Smith along w Mrs Dowdy. They are the only ppl my daughter has and they aren't any of who should be there to make my daughter feel safe. My opinion. But I have plenty to back my opinion up. And my student is a AB student still even though she cries every morning and night thinking of returning to this so called school.
