About this House

It's a nice tiny private place right in the middle of downtown. You can literally walk to everything. It's perfect for one person. Because you have neighbors on all sides. You need to be quiet. Everyone is real dog friendly around here. It would be a great place for a grad student who just needs a cheap, quiet place to live and who doesn't mind weekend gardening.

It's a 6-month lease. You have to pay for your own electricity which also covers heat. You get your own internet, you can choose your own company and it's up to you to deal with it. You can share trash unless there's too much and you need to get your own. You have to like gardening. The place is tiny but there is a garden that is about five times as big as the studio. It's very important that you keep up on it and don't let it go wild.

"They have a great dog park right around the corner and a playground for the kids to play at while you throw a ball for the dog"
  • Pax.jon.johnson
"Some of my family is from here, and I go to school here. The arts scene (ie music, painting, photography, writing) is all super impressive and inviting. The college community is extremely welcoming and fun, but low key."
  • Joybrouwer
"Very dog friendly in many areas and a lot of places to walk your dogs, however many apartments do not allow dogs. "
  • Humboldtharmony
"There is a bus stop on my corner and I can walk to town in less than 20 minutes. It is very bike friendly and I ride my bike to work everyday. The speed limit is 25 mph in 95% of town. "
  • Buffy H. .
"I can walk just about everywhere I need to go. My neighborhood has 5 Restaurants a quarter mile away and about 10 more a mile to 2 miles always. I can walk to 2 different grocery store, parks, the post office, town square where the Farmers Market is on Saturday’s. The south freeway is just 3 streets up or 2 streets behind me for north. I feel safe to walk all around my neighborhood. I take my pit bull on walks 2-3 times a day and the neighborhood people just love him. "

"This area is very good for walking your dogs and taking them out and about. Unfortunately, many rentals dont allow dogs. People still have them though so that ones for you to figure out. "
  • anon
"I live by two bus stops that pick up once every hour to go either one way towards downtown or the other. The commute is pretty easy (only takes about 15-20 minutes to get downtown), although sometimes there will be people on the bus that stare at me/make me feel a bit unsettled. "
  • Dawninedolf
"There is a mix of families and college students in this area. The weekend can be loud with party goers. "
  • Emily
"They’d like it as it’s safe to walk around and people love dogs here. There are also the trials in the nearby forest you can walk along with your dog. And also the beach!"

"The only one with sidewalks and a park in a subdivision. Close to both the hospital and several schools it is the go to for Halloween and Christmas lights."
  • Shannonmichele3
"College town mixed with various hippy style artists from around the world. A very Community oriented area accepting of all of even the most eccentric characters. Where else in the world do you see dog being pushed in a stroller on the same sidewalk as a guy who walk his yak around town. Los Bagels a Jewish Mexican biracial owned bakery and bagel shop is a social hub which represents the diversity here well. Lots of community events for local businesses to set up stands around the Arcata Plaza."
  • Jan
"I live here and love the people, the wildlife, and protection from any winds, the gorgeous trees. This road is a popular runner's and biking loop, 4.5 mi long. Houses are far apart, and the golf course is a beautiful. "
  • naturalmed
