As an OGS alum, please don't send your kids hereOGS doesn't prepare students for high school, most advanced students are from Highland; most remedial students are from OGS (especially post Covid). Students easily distract teachers, more socializing meant less in class learning, more homework & struggling to self-teach - families have to be involved otherwise their kids won't learn. Many teachers I've had have no love for their profession. Stakeholders via Illinois Report Card rated OGS weak in effective leaders & collaborative teachersStudents are not encouraged to reach full potential & very few faculty cared about us as studentsThe slogan “where students come first” is a joke, only PTO mom’s kids are put first. Maybe they are the ones who are posting the positive reviews.Most teachers students loved retired due to new adminIt's poorly run with frequent fights, principal has a background as an SEL (social emotional learning) teacher, not a core subject teacher. His philosophy of not punishing bad behavior created a “might is right” student culture which does not promote a safe learning environment.OGS doesn't provide students with much of an education, very disappointing, the learning happened through LHS advanced classes.I'm happy to be an OGS alum because I can now move onto better things.

Libertyville High School could have provided me with a better education but was better than Oak Grove Elementary School.Students are not supported & LHS does not prepare students for college and the real world.Most teachers are not willing to help students learn. Teaching is just a job to them. Many couldn't meet with students before or after school. Many cared more about getting home to their families than staying after school to help students. Many teachers focus on sports over academics and small talk over learning, which affects education, quality & meant that I had to self teach.Counselors don't encourage students to reach their full potential. They focus on emotional well being at the expense of academic achievement.Career counselor told me to aim lower and apply to less selective colleges. Not taking her advice was one of the best decisions I ever made.LHS has no standing with selective schools, the career center person told me colleges declined to visit LHS.Students who say in the reviews that the same kids are chosen for everything are right, LHS is very insular. At least I had a few caring teachers and this place wasn’t as bad as my elementary / middle school: Oak Grove Elementary School.
