The Alva School has been a wonderful school for our family. My son has thrived here academically. The staff, principal, and students seem to really care and make this school feel like a home away from home.

I went to Tice in the First Grade. The First of the Six Teachers I had that first year Scared me so bad the First day of school, I still have Nightmares. Luckily I was moved to another Class latter that week because of class sizes. in that class one of the Five teachers I had in that classrooms said to me when I was having trouble reading "I know you can read, Your father graduated College!" and I sat there thinking 'what dose him graduating Collage have anything to do with me reading. after that she started sending me to the Principle to be paddled for not reading. when my Mother found out she had a talk with the School Superintendent, who had me transferred to another school, and Fired that Principle. After All that trauma, it took the next Six years and some Very Caring Teacher who Quickly figured out I actually had a Learning Disability, to get me to trust teachers again, but we found them in another State.But from what I have seen recently, Tice has gotten a lot better in recent years, they are now testing well below average, Almost 40% are passing standardized Testing! And if I read the statistics correctly, The Low-Income students are doing better than all other students!?? Maybe at this rate Tice may actually reach the State Norm In, Oh Say 60 or 70 Years!P.S. I wouldn't be surprised if you Pull my Review, Now Days Most people in Florida don't like the Truth. and it did happen 60 years ago, and your test Scores show, the quality of education at Tice and in Florida hasn't improved much.

The school is racist towards black students and there is one time I was outside for almost an hour about to pass out just to be told to get to class

As a former student of this school, its fine. But if you want better education its best if you leave the lee county school district overall. I came to the Miami Dade County School District recently, and I've been performing better in quizzes/tests. The only reason I would not recommend this school is because of the lack of teaching. However, if your child thrives without much needed assistance then it would be for her/him.

I won't say much but this school sucks I can't wait to go to a different school honestly I spoke of something that happened and it was told it was a lie it's not but I got 2 days of iss for telling the assistant principal that people came up to me and now I'm the only one in iss the other students are still in there classes I feel like no ones on my side like I don't want to be ur favorite for u to realize what's wrong and right I told the truth and I get called a liar then go to iss for no reason at all and for two days def favorites.

Staff are not helpful and worried about the wrong things the only reason I go is cause there medical program there’s always problems there and staff worried about things they don’t need to and are ridiculous about dress code depending on you body type if ur shiny no meat on ur bones it’s ok to wear short shorts or even if ur more on the big side you get away with it they don’t treat students equally the only good staff member there is ms.Steven’s the school isn’t fair to most student and many teaches don’t care I’ve even seen staff treat special needs student aggressively not a good school in my opinion

This school has gone severely down hill over the last couple of years. I have tried and failed at getting my daughter transferred. I could list several reasons, but this, THIS is it! My daughter is having a hard time completing her IReady assignments. She’s not as fast at learning as the school would like her to be. She failed to pass her IReady assignment the week prior so they issued her a lunch detention. While she was in detention they had the students redo the assignments they couldn’t pass. They told her and the other students that “They need to try harder to pass their test because they used to be a B school but now they are not!” Are you kidding me? I’m livid!!!!!! Why would you put that pressure on a 10 year old?!?! Why not call it study hall? Why PUNISH them? Why not encourage? Why not explain they’re getting extra time or a second chance to catch up? This school just wants to put FEAR in our children so they can rank higher!!! Absolutely disgusting!

This school is absolutely awesome. My kids are there for over 2 years now and love it. It is a fairly new building and very clean. The principle and her 2 assistants are doing an amazing job providing for many troubled kids and their families. Staff and Teachers are the most loving and caring I have ever seen in a public school. Don't let the reputation fool you... THIS IS A GREAT SCHOOL!

This school has obviously made some great changes since the last review. My kids are new their this year and although it was challenging at first, all my kids teachers and the principal have gone above and beyond to help them. We had the chance to change schools after the first few weeks but all my kids didn't want to leave JSIA. Change is hard and overcoming a bad reputation from years past takes time. The leadership and teachers are making strides to make this school safe and the education for our kids quality.

As a student that goes to the school, I’ll be 100% honest while I’m writing this this school is horrible. They tell the kids to be good so they can get to be all school students will bully other students. Teachers will bully students. Teachers don’t even teach most teachers don’t know what they’re teaching about and send you the in school suspension administration. Don’t tell the truth to parents and a kid got expelled for getting slammed on the door by administration instead of the administration getting fired. Only thing I would suggest the school for is 12th grade because. You may be able to get into colleges for free like FGCU but nothing else overall the school is very bad. I do not suggest sending your kids here for high school. Send them to the other gateway for middle school. You can send them to varsity lambs. You have a lot of options.
